Unpopular position: dislike 'spooky season' very much. Mostly because of loathing horror movies and horror in any genre. Life is filled with sufficient horror as it is.

The exception is Halloween cats -- I do love them!

TIL that the word oud is etymologically related to the Arabic word for wood, of which the oud is made. Wood, oud. Duh. Fes also introduced the world to the mathematical concept of zero via its university, but that’s another story.

Once again, the Trump administration chooses authoritarian theatrics that create fear, not safety. It must stop.

This is so true. José Feliciano’s beautiful 1968 slo-mo “Star-Spangled Banner” at the World Series, which predated Marvin Gaye’s more famous version by 15 years, was met with a radio boycott of his single then climbing the charts and derailed his pop career.
