"Eat God" is live on Kickstarter:

Be a blue-furred social justice advocate with detachable limbs, a many-eyed horror with strong opinions about metaphysics, or a jet-powered telepathic crab and stick it to the Man though the power of gratuitous cartoon violence.

Bethesda RPG protagonist trying to fuck, but every time they stick it in the game engine detects that two physics objects have intersected and ragdolls them into the ceiling.

Concept: the thing where a specific, named fictional/folkloric beastie is reinterpreted as a SPECIES by that name (e.g., "minotaurs", "medusas", etc.), except backwards, starting with popular generic fantasy beasties and reverse-engineering an "original" mythical figure they're notionally based on.

Switching off gravity for everyone within Near range of you is probably a fair approximation if they're the only one chasing you.

Collapsing an entire mountain with a handsaw is somewhat beyond the scope of the described effect.

A proposed rewrite for the forthcoming v0.7.0 of Eat God (www.kickstarter.com/projects/pen...). It's been remarked in playtesting that this Art is insufficiently bullshit, comparatively; I've tried several approaches to fixing that, but I think this one hits the right Looney Tunes bullshit factor.
15–16. Art of Ascension: You refute the lie of gravity.
* While you sustain this art, you may vary the strength and direction of gravity at will; for example, you might “fall” upward, walk on walls, or perch on a spider's web.
* At your option, this Art may affect only yourself; only things you are touching; or everything within Near range of you. You can alter this choice without reactivating this Art. A creature or object must fit entirely within Near range of you to be affected.
* You may not increase the strength of gravity beyond its ordinary magnitude by means of this Art.
* This Art should be practiced with caution outdoors.

I don't think I've ever once in my life skedaddled. I've scrammed, absconded, hightailed, and even on occasion vamoosed, but I've never skedaddled.

I'm trying to picture the world where the very specific way they went about promoting the character could conceivably have drawn an audience of straight men, and I'm afraid even my imagination has its limits.

Marvel deciding to push Gambit as a headliner in the 90s, only to backtrack and start shitting all over him once they realised the audience the character had attracted was mostly women was sadly predictable, but the question I have is this: exactly what audience did they THINK they were cultivating?

There's a palpable division within the "people who unironically use the word 'girlsmell'" community between those whose idea of stink is giving the shower a miss after a brisk workout and those who truly appreciate the Stench.

I think the worst form of turning one's living space into a showroom is bathrooms where you have to solve a fucking Silent Hill puzzle to find the spare toilet paper rolls. Imagine being so unwilling to let your living space look lived in that people can't know there's toilet paper in the bathroom.

Since the Kickstarter campaign launched I've bumped into at least a couple of "now funding" roundup posts that have classified "Eat God" as an OSR game, and I'm not gonna lie, I'd be fascinated to know the reasoning there.

As we close out our first week, we're fully funded with two stretch goals down and $2181 CAD / $5000 CAD toward a third. Each extra playset is a ~$5 USD value, so if we hit the third one you'll already be getting twice as much stuff for the basic pledge, and there's plenty of stretch ladder to go!

"This person's actions are self-destructive, and it's unclear how any of this could benefit me, but I'm curious to see where they're going with this" is really the only mindset you can impute to your average soulslike protagonist which renders their actions intelligible, and I love that for them.

(Heck, sometimes you weren't even five. For years I thought the taciturn kidnapper in Fargo (1996) was played by Bruce Willis. When I picture it I STILL see Bruce Willis. In the film that actually exists, it's of course Peter Stormare; to this day I have no idea what I was getting it confused with!)

"People only joke about JRPGs where you kill God at the end because the only JRPGs they've ever played are Final Fantasy games" joke's on you, buddy – I was actually memeing on Baroque (1998).

I spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out why my bathroom fan seemed to run more roughly whenever I stood in certain parts the room before realising the rattling wasn't coming from the fan; my cat was tucked away out of sight, and would start purring loudly whenever I walked past her hiding spot.

"Goncharov" is a fun meme, but I don't understand talking about it like it's conceptually unprecedented when a solid 50% of us have a piece of wholly invented media in our heads that we genuinely remember seeing because we've unwittingly conflated a bunch of unrelated shit we saw when we were five.

"But Silksong's combat is so much easier than Hollow Knight's" well, yeah, dude – that's what happens when your combat set-pieces actually draw on the same skills and reward the same strategies as your platforming, rather than effectively being two games in a trenchcoat. You get better faster.
