The blending in CSP is lightyears ahead of blending in Procreate. Up until v5, Procreate didn't even have proper brush blending at all. I think they've improved their brush engine with the latest update, but I haven't had a chance to play with it much.

Today is turning out to be frustrating in the stupidest ways. First the procreate thing. Now dealing with some absolute nonsense on the professional side that I can't even talk about because NDAs. But let me tell you, this has to be one of the dumbest things 3 people have spent multiple hours on.

Yeah you're right, the layer thumbs just show what's in the layer. I could have sworn the thumbs better conformed to the shape of what was on the canvas. It looks like what changed is that they're now all wider horizontally whereas before they were square.

That sucks. Yeah, from what I've seen iOS 26 looks absolutely awful.

I'm curious though if they "had" to, or if they just chose to.

Once upon a time Procreate had the most elegant grouping of layer blend modes I've ever seen. They were all together in separate little submenus based on what they did, it was fantastic. Then they got rid of it in favor of just dumping them into one huge list.

So I don't know. It's weird.

Jesus christ it gets worse! The brush panel opens in the middle of the screen over the art instead of on the side of the screen like literally every other panel. WHY.

They released v5 which had a bunch of nice updates to the brush engine, but also introduced a lot of bugs. In the process of fixing bugs, then they drop this new clunky interface. It's like.. what. What are you doing. Just fix the bugs. I can't even x_x

Why do the layer thumbs no longer match the shape of the canvas? Why are the brush tools on the left so huge and fat and rounded off now?

You used to have such an elegant clean interface and now it looks like a shitty knock off app of your own product. Bafflingly awful.

The layer thumbnails are darker now making them nearly impossible to see. The opacity selector is a pill now. I'm not selecting a range of opacity values. Why isn't it more precise like, I don't know, a circle? The way it used to be?

Seriously @procreate.com your 5.4.5 update is one of the worst UI changes you've ever put out. Thumbnails have rounded corners?? Everything is so fat and round the UI takes up more space on the screen getting in the way of art while simultaneously making important areas smaller and harder to click
