🚨 URGENT: Con History is Disappearing! 🚨 I'm building a historical archive of furry convention media, especially old conbooks & program guides.

Many veterans are downsizing or leaving the fandom, and tossing this irreplaceable history. Help me save it! #Furry #ConHistory (1/6)

I think there's sometimes confusion on what a fundamental can be. Each type of art practice does indeed have its own aspects which are fundamental to it.

But generally when people speak of "art fundamentals" they're talking about the ones that apply across all visual art practice.

I don't know that I would consider anatomy to be "fundamental" although I do think it's extremely important.

But even abstract artists need to know these things because you need an understanding of them before you can effectively abstract them.

Sports aren't art, so I can't really speak to that. But that seems like an imperfect analogy to me.

Color theory is extremely important for people who work in black and white too for reasons that are too complex to go into in this little box here. But in short: because we still see in color.

I would argue they are. That's the meaning of 'fundamental' after all. Composition is important for all those practices. It's fundamental to them. Color theory as well. Leading the eye is important to all of them. These, among others, are the fundamentals that apply to all visual art disciplines.

Can't read this without hearing it in Duke Nukem's voice. You know, in the off chance you were looking to dust off your Duke impression

To try and make up a little for the car repair I needed to do, I have made some Helluva Boss adoptables! There is a sinner demon, a goetia, and an imp.

If you want to grab one, please send me a DM on FA or here! I can edit them to be SFW or NSFW (both examples are shown).

I've been thinking about going to LVFC. How is it getting from the airport to the hotel? What're the options, just taxi? I know Vegas doesn't have much of a public transportation system.

That'd be hilarious x) It's not that it's not a good fit, per se. More that I was looking to possibly donate my time to someone who needs it, rather than just doing like shitposts for fun.

Oh I was thinking more along the lines of doing something for someone's personal brand/channel
February 11, 2026 at 8:18 PM
Yeah, that's what I'm curious about. I can do a lot in AE. There are some things that would be easier to do in Blender (materials and lighting for sure). But I want to see how capable it is for more general motion graphics.
February 11, 2026 at 7:59 PM
Note this would be for motion graphics specifically: custom transitions, logo animation or kinetic type. Not for character animation or 3D modeling
February 11, 2026 at 7:38 PM
I want more practice doing motion graphics in Blender. I find it's often easier to work towards a specific goal or project with motion graphics.

Do any of my moots need motion for a streaming channel or something?

Another pic that's quite appropriate for today is this one from The Daily Grind. I swear this happens every time I bend over to tie my shoe...

The Daily Grind is still available on my Itch page too if you want to help support me!

Hrrf, it's been a really multi kind of week / month lately. Thank goodness I've got some multi art to work on later this month.

Yeah, that was a huge improvement that needed to happen. But I've noticed since then they go through waves of caring about UI or not.

Once again this quote from Charles Babbage proves evergreen (slightly altered for context): "I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a [user interface design decision]"

Is it too much to ask that the snap button turns on when you use the shortcut for transform snapping, so you know its settings are now being used? No? Nobody thought about that?
February 10, 2026 at 1:14 PM
This is bizarrely counterintuitive to me. I would assume if the button is off, the settings within that button would not be used and the transform snap would revert to some default mode.

But no. The button can be *off*, but a sub-selection inside that button can be *on*, and then it uses that.
February 10, 2026 at 1:11 PM
I rebooted my computer this morning and and it partly reset the behavior. Although it had been in an odd mode that's now gone, so I still don't know what that was.

It turns out the snap settings do actually influence how the transform snapping behaves—even if the button is turned off.
I somehow changed the mode (?) of how the transform snapping works in Blender and now it's completely broken for me.

None of the shortcuts work to change it back. I can't find any info about it online. The manual doesn't describe it in the section on transform snapping. I'm so completely frustrated
