With the bad edits in this one I feel like I'm having a stroke
quarterpast.bsky.social
What in the actual fuck is going on?

Songs are dropping wholesale, my #AT40 tag posts aren't showing up in search...

I'm going behind the arcade to hang out with the kids in the Foghat t-shirts — lmk if we get this fixed
quarterpast.bsky.social
Did anyone else just blackout for the duration of this song? #AT40
quarterpast.bsky.social

quarterpast.bsky.social
lol my posts with the #AT40 hashtag aren't showing up in search—I'm clearly being shadowbanned for my hot music takes!

By next week, Bing Crosby will drop dead on a golf course. The following week, half of Lynyrd Skynyrd will die in a plane crash.

We’re headed to the arcade to listen to this week’s #AT40 countdown.

Keep your eye out for this individual, who will kick your ass at the new game, Hustle.
This is Sabrina Osment, a young blonde woman with a smirk on her face, wearing a t-shirt that reads “HUSTLE”. Video-game producer Gremlin enlisted her to promote their new game “Hustle”. Osment would tour with another woman, Lynn Reid, around various arcades, probably enduring a thick misogynist welcome, before they’d challenge newcomers to play the arcade game and summarily kick their asses at it. Their record against opponents after a 12-city tour was reportedly 1233 wins, 7 losses.

America, beacon of democracy, is about to get exactly the #AT40 it deserves.

Star Wars is still held over for, like, the 25th consecutive week. The first posthumous sightings of Elvis with a beard are happening in various airports.

Tragedy is just around the corner…

Stop what you're doing, and join us. We're traveling back to October 8, 1977 for another Casey Kasem American Top 40 flashback #AT40. Who will be #1?

Listen on SiriusXM 70s, and follow this 🧵 to find out.

The blog continues its updates, as Bob Whitehead's Boxing gets its time in the spotlight. Unassuming but a blast to play, particularly if you're using the original joysticks and want to experience actual exhaustion in your boxing match. www.atariarchive.org/blog/boxing-...

Renga in Blue has arrived at what is imo the hardest Infocom game ever
jdyer.bsky.social
in which I embark on Infocom's wildly ambitious Suspended, where you are in partial cryofreeze and can only communicate with the world using six robots, each with their own abilities and methods of communicating

Suspended (1983)
A bicycle can get you from New York to LA, so will a jet plane. In one sense they are the exact same thing; in another they are nothing alike. In one sense we are working within traditional genres …

listen #AT40 rockheads, no spoilers — and while Grand Funk might be by later to save our asses, this is one of your few opportunities to crank the distorted guitar!

Come to the arcade, where there are now as many as 18(!) different Pong clones to play.

I have to leave early and take the DeLorean as far back as 1954 before the #AT40 is done, though, so please arrange your own ride back to 2025.

And also wish @porpster.bsky.social a belated happy birthday!

Big day: Rose Mary Woods is busy making transcriptions of President Nixon’s recordings and probably thinking about “Alice’s Restaurant”.

The music industry is in shambles, but still persists in creating enough music to craft a weekly #AT40.
Rose Mary Woods demonstrates the “Rose Mary Stretch,” the explanation given for her role in erasing a big chunk of audio tape that seemed pretty detrimental to President Richard Nixon during the now quaint period in American history known as “Watergate.”
