I counted yesterday. I've got 40+. A few in the ground that I might sacrifice to the gods of winter, but most of them are in pots and a few of the pots have multiple plants. Those will all get lifted and stored.
It's about 8 inches deep and at least 2 feet across. The 1st time I did this, 2 years ago, I kept them in the garage and last year I left them exposed on the screened in porch, which didn't work as well. This year, on the porch, close to the house with a cover.
DMH thought I was nuts when I got super excited about buying one of these at an estate sale until I explained I was going to hang it right inside the door of the tutoring lab.
Do you think losing her license would stop her driving? I don't know if you have to be a relative for them to listen, but you can contact the DMV to suggest they make her take a road test.
These are dahlias. I grow mine in pots because they won't survive a Wisconsin winter and lift the tubers every fall and store them in the basement. I listed the specific varieties in another response if you're interested.
The spiky red one in back is Dr. Rick, Big Brother is the flaming one in the center, across the bottom (left to right) are Spartacus, Labyrinth, and Red Labyrinth. Don't know the purple in the back.
If it hadn't rained in 3-4 days, I watered and fed them with a 10-30-20 fertilizer. Best year ever
I always buy a ton of zinnia seeds and just throw them around the rose beds. I never thought about pinching them back beyond picking the occasional bouquet.
