My mother has the stamina of a bull elephant. I have post-exertion malaise from even relatively simple tasks. She just barrels through any task. I have to stop constantly. It is to her utmost consternation that I cannot do what she can.

Oof! My best advice is blunt tipped syringe and going slowly! I’ve yet to have a spill, but I am prone to spilling even the most basic fill, so it’s only a matter of time….

This hurts my heart, but I get it. Awards aren’t edible. If I were independently wealthy and could become a sustaining patron, I would. But what-if’s don’t pay the mortgage either. 💙

You should be concerned about the rate of authors leaving publishing. Especially from marginalized communities. This year I have seen so many authors just pack it up and go. And it's only getting worse.

But honestly, if you wanted to stick to piston fillers, you could find mostly opaque and spendy pens in that genre, too. Check out the Lamy 2000.

Squeeze converters aren’t that common. Mostly, you find piston-type converters. And most people don’t bother to refill cartridges, so you’re off the hook there as well.

They’re tubules of ink that generally come pre-filled. Converters convert the pen to a smaller capacity piston fill. Or plunger fill. Or squeeze fill. They fill through the nib like a piston filler. Cartridges can be refilled, but it’s not as common. Usually, one uses a blunt tipped syringe.
