yep, that's the main problem with bluesky marketing imo, it's not a decentralized network like mastodon or lemmy, it's a centralized network with an open protocol and implementations, anyone can make their own separate network, but the bluesky one is still centralized and corporate controlled

i didn't knew they had a new one running, that's pretty cool, it's a little underwhelming that you can't actually access it from the app as it's basically a separate network running on it's own instead of a decentralized part of the same network, but hopefully an view could let you add multiple ones

the true centralization is not on the data servers it's on the network, as long as they're the ones controlling the relays and the firehose they have power over the network, this is not decentralization it's externalizing the cost for data storage

it's still a problem when you keep depending on bluesky the corp as there's only one firehose the appviews are consuming, a relay level ban will kick you off every atproto application and it doesn't matter that your data is in a third party pds if it can't be indexed

They join 2023 Seed round investors Bob Young (Red Hat), Amjad Masad (Replit), Heather Meeker, Jeremy Johnson, Outset Capital, Mana Industries, Automattic, Protocol Labs, Katelyn Donnelly, Ali Evans, Stav Erez, Kris Nóva, Brad Fitzpatrick, Atlas Benjelloun, ans Abdul Ly. bluesky fundamentally suffers from the same problem that all tech liberals do, they do not oppose the social order only who is on top, the problem isn't that social media is a corporate controlled walled garden but that it's not controlled by their corporations

i once saw a source saying that women (trans or cis) lacking a uterus will still experience period cramps if on hormonal treatment since the cramps are not caused by the uterus but by the abdominal muscles around it triggered by hormonal balances and it always sounded bs to me but idk jackshit
