I guess I should make a proper introduction post. I'm Qwarq and I love playing and making games about puzzles and exploration. I've been coding for a very long time and I've been drawing for a couple years. I also stream occasionally.

Dawn, this might be my new favorite piece of yours. the fabric rendering is out of this world, the pose and lighting really showcase Ely's elegance, and the background and flower petals are understated but go a long way to set the mood. you absolutely knocked it out of the park

gotta repost this because it's been working extremely well for me. even if no great ideas come to me while resting, my mind is clear and calm for actively thinking up things afterward

my puzzle design process lately has been:
- lay down and rest my eyes for 20-30 minutes every afternoon
- start thinking about the game and let my mind wander
- have a notebook nearby to write down ideas that magically pop into my head
- do a little bit of refinement later as needed

In Yoshi's Island, a cave background sparkles, but only when Yoshi moves. This is achieved in an inventive way by making many 1-pixel "pinholes" in the background through which a field of stars is visible. The parallax motion shows the stars intermittently, creating sparkles.
