Hi, I'm Kett! I'm a blue fluffy creature, and sometimes I make things! My interests always shuffle around, and I'll try to keep you posted about them :3

Do you see my handle? That's my site, racc.at! You can find games I've made, blog posts, other socials and even my forums there, so check it out!
A drawing of Kett, from below. Their tail causes a depth of field effect. They're looking onward with a smile on their face. The sky is lightly cloudy and purple. There are silhouettes of buildings behind them.

shoutouts to atan2, they may be a little quirky (argument order) but they're a homie nonetheless

this is freakin sick i hope you know that

Yeah, at least it covers the use case of pattern matching inside signal callback functions such as area_entered where you only want to respond to specific types, that doesn't require annotating it as a global class. I do like the extra choice here, in GDScript it's an all-or-nothing kind of thing

using C# pretty much enforces this, your class will always be named, you can always refer to them... though IIRC you still need to annotate it with [GlobalClass] if you want to make it usable on the inspector and instantiatable as a Node?

Exporting custom Node types to will make it so the picker filters to only nodes of that type, guaranteeing there'll be no weirdness going on.

Exporting custom Resources is such a handy way to pass data around onto reusable components.

I just think it's silly I need to class_name every time...
racc.at
I feel Godot should automatically place a class_name statement with the name of the script whenever you create one, type checking nodes with variable is Type is probably the single most useful pattern I use, even my very first "full" game published for Ludum Dare made use of it

It'd be cool if y'all could answer this :) Boosts welcome, of course, especially so this can break into spaces that aren't as overwhelmingly queer as my direct circles LOL
axoga.to
someone shared this meme about % of programmers identifying as LGBTQ by language, but it had no citations (gasp!), so I wanted to collect my own data. reposts are appreciated, esp from non-queer programmers cause my circle is pretty damn queer ^-^;

Unlike F#, VB *does* support partial classes, so in theory, it should be possible to attach VB scripts to nodes and resources, but during compilation I get a bizarre error related to what seems like a preprocessor conditional, I wonder if I can get around that...
