If you want to help save classical music public radio in Kansas (and who wouldn't?) consider throwing a couple of dollars to radiokansas.com.
All right, still feeling migrainey due to forgetting to turn on my sleep apnea implant Monday night and missing my night meds till after 3 last night!! But I have my first film festival screener to watch and take notes on so hopefully it'll be an okay day
Pre-testosterone, yeah (I cry less now! It's a weird effect!)
In the same place with my winter coat

Pretty sure Carry Nation still haunts the bar district downtown, especially around her statue www.roadsideamerica.com/story/62836
I hate peas so this doesn't surprise me 😂
😭😭😭 yes, thanks! I have a new med that's been working well, yesterday was the first time it just didn't help much
Yeah "plant-based" is in style! I gotta assume pea protein is dirt cheap
I'm sorry I'm in such a bad mood, I had a migraine yesterday and that peels off a layer of emotional resilience
For one thing, the biggest problem is contaminated pea protein, and the dudes you're trying to make fun of seem likely to disdain vegan protein! bsky.app/profile/pari...
nearly all the plant-based products we tested had elevated lead levels: vegan powders had 9x as much lead as dairy and 2x as much as beef

though dairy-based powders had the lowest levels, half were still too contaminated for safe daily use

you may be asking: how could this be? well...
The whole point of the article is that people are being poisoned bc of the supplement loophole, reducing it to Gender is downright pusillanimous
Connie Willis called this in 1995
Does he think his own books aren't 90% dependent on contemporary allusion??? Does he really think "well it's fine if everyone stops reading me in 15-20 years"???
Every quote of this that boils down to "lol men are making themselves dumb eating lead" is making me so mad I could scream
my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

CR tests of 23 popular protein powders and shakes found that most contain high levels of lead.

Lmao it's super surreal to have a president you think of as a dead cat, huh
Which has jack shit to do with the books! If you taught modern YA in English class the same way, I 100% believe it would suck the joy out of those too
The idea that not understanding a work of art makes it "boring" and not, in many cases, *more* interesting because you get to learn stuff, is nonsense
So sad that you can’t annotate books or anything (also you don’t need to understand absolutely everything in a story to enjoy or get value from it)
John Scalzi• @scalzi.com • 5h
Most "classics" are boring as fuck to a modern reader in no small part because the context of the story is not understood by them and so many of the allusions and "inside jokes" known to then-contemporary readers have been lost in time and in translation
Extremely funny for Scalzi to say this when his work is also dependent on context and in-jokes (he's kind of a dumdum imo)
