Ah, that lovely moment when your defense system is too good and so it also defends against your own dwarves.
For instance! I have now for the fourth fortress in a row reached an adamantine spire immediately before losing, which is really winning.

First time I actually don't remember (I think necrotizing poison?)

Second time? Underground fire FB FPS death.

Third? Massive siege.

Now? Update tomorrow.
As someone who is allergic to pistachios (and that's my only nut allergy), they are everywhere and it's kind of infuriating. Like at least I will probably be ok on a plane if someone else eats them (I might get a sore throat/sneezy but I'll be able to breathe), but c'mon. WHY????
Not true, you "win" dwarf fortress by losing in a new way that you've never lost before!
I’d say rinworld or dwarf fortress but you don’t really “win” those

This morning is the DST where the clocks go back an hour, so let me recommend what to do with your bonus hour: be as lazy as humanly possible.

You can curse daylight saving time, daylight saving, daylight savings, daylight savings time, and/or daylight time.

All are considered acceptable so go off.

are we allowed to talk about how eating breakfast is good again yet or is that still, like, off limits
Definitely thought for a moment that you'd decorated them with plastic spiders. Honestly now I want to make cinnamon rolls with icing webs for Halloween next year.
I witnessed the bluescreen of his brain when he realized that I probably did NOT mean that I was putting 3 pounds of potatoes in my pocket.
Be kind to the children working at the grocery store today. They were out until 1 AM for Halloween and up early to scan groceries. When my candy bar was getting scanned, I asked the checkout worker to hand it to me so I could put it in my pocket.

In his other hand was a 3-pound bag of potatoes.
Basically I'm just full of happiness right now.
100 trick-or-treaters on the dot this year. I only track totals but if I had to guess, fewer little kids, about the same amount of teenagers.

We're by a high school so I expect we'll always get teens. They're always so excited and I love it so much. I love that my whole neighborhood gets into it.
WTF??? That's just obscene. Physical therapy is so critical for so many conditions. I'm so sorry that you're dealing with that BS.
I mean these days even if you DO set foot in a grocery store, you might not know, because the benefits are loaded onto a debit card and generally looks like any other transaction.
(Is Negging still a thing? It was huuuuuge when I was in my 20's. I'd been a wrestler in high school, and also did a stint teaching 7th grade, so I always took attempts at negging as an opportunity to insult right back.)
I don't go out much, but once many years ago, a friend and I went up to order drinks. Something was out of stock so it took a while. While we waited, these two guys decided Negging Was Cool.

Not only did we get to make the two guys tuck their tails in shame, free drinks as apology for the wait!
1,000% this. We WANT something to blame. The more you learn about health and biology, the more it becomes clear how much of it is a crapshoot or was present before, just ignored or hidden away.

it's funny how a bunch of people in my family in my generation, a bunch of my cousins, played football in college, and now that we all have kids including them, every time we get together they're like "nobody's letting their kids play contact sports, right? no? okay good. no football"
BIG MOOD. I come from a wrestling family. I loved wrestling (even though I wasn't very good at it) and I think that experience added a lot to my life.

I will not encourage or condone my kids doing wrestling.

(Fortunately, I'm 99% sure neither would be interested.)
I don't mind so much. Like... I know this, but a lot of people don't, and I'm a big proponent of "hey if we talked about this more openly maybe fewer people would have issues that go unaddressed."
Yeah this is a big part of why I do try to address with diet (and got everything to start having yogurt with chia and flax seeds for breakfast again). Supplements are definitely helpful but things like liver, yogurt, etc. often have the things that are needed with the other things (technical terms).
This is a bit above my organic chemistry understanding but as someone with spondyloarthritis I am excited about ANY developments in this field.
Oh they check everything bc of Crohn's. Ferritin was actually ok, but b12 was low and red blood cells were wonky, so B12 supplements it is. Plus treating myself to a slab of liver once every 2 weeks or so.
The bad news: apparently, I am slightly anemic.

The good news: I love liver and this is a great excuse to treat myself.

The silly news: I've finished my lunch and the dog keeps walking around sniffing the air like Where Is It I Know It Is Around Here Somewhere.
