C++ people are getting so upset whenever Rust does something well.

Many words. So few positive words about C++ other than that it’s here, and must be tolerated.
What we expect, we also enable.

An aspirational mantra for software teams.
Wow your right, it's like he's double punished now... almost makes it worth it!
Through me, it would wield a power too great and terrible to imagine.

I was reading this post talking about the great things about text adventures, and it got me thinking about parsing and representation... entropicthoughts.com/the-greatnes...

Specifically from the question: do text adventures really give players a lot of freedom?

Basically if you want to talk to your chatbot before you talk to me that’s fine. Just don’t expect me to care what your chatbot said.

When I hear from you, I want to hear things that you think and decide to say.

I have my own chatbots to talk to, I don’t need yours.
I'll cautiously say I've noticed more skepticism about AI in the corporate world and it's mostly because people's coworkers are creating extra work for them. They don't have the vocabulary to describe it yet but it's basically the "Why should I read what you couldn't be bothered to write" thing
My loose model: LLMs are the biggest win for:

Low risk
Clear context
Easy to check

Side projects are usually that. Legacy code is the opposite. Can be dealt with but requires significant other measures to counter those, especially risk.
Great thread.

Making a talk called “AI Hates Legacy Code” for similar reasons.
Yes. It’s a classic blame the user when it breaks, your experience is only valid when it works. We need badly to get away from that behavior.
Cheers from OpenHands. ACP is gonna be important I think. Good luck with the webinar!
Such an honor to even be in the same sentence there! I’ll have to start posting here more :)
always cool finding ppl from professional networks in here, really cool picking up "golden breadcrumbs". I always recommend @lizthegrey.com and @raymyers.bsky.social
The existence of the Association for Computing Machinery implies the existence of the Association *against* Computing Machinery.
I feel like one of the biggest gripes about Rust is really that it feels trendy.

Sure, trendiness is an asinine reason to make good choices.

On the other hand, we’ve had mixed results getting people to make good choices any other way.
More of a highly emotional robot at any rate. Not sure if that helps sry

Let’s say, hypothetically, you appreciated our position paper and @olivia.science and I would be recording answers to questions about it. What questions would you have?
Finally! 🤩 Our position piece: Against the Uncritical Adoption of 'AI' Technologies in Academia:

Linear has a 30-minute weekly meeting called "Quality Wednesdays." I sat through one and WOW

Devs show a quality or perf-related fix they did last week. It can be big, or small. We went through 17 issues, from massive backend performance wins, to this tiny one. Can you see it?
Very well written.
This just in, Weird AI calls for serifed fonts. Or it might have been Weird Al we’re not sure
Incredulous cis people on other sites have again demanded I explain why I acknowledge gender identities beyond the ones they were aware of in 3rd grade.

In case it's helpful I've captured my stance as clearly as I can here. As always, listen to those it affects more.
