Birthday flowers coming from every direction. Beauty all around. #Flowers
Placed fourth and fifth for pull-apart yeast bread and vegetable muffins, respectively, at the MN State Fair! It was a beautiful opening day -- 2 for 2! #mnstatefair
My CI processor is a little smaller because I use the child-sized battery on my tiny ears. I get a bit less on the life before recharging but it's so very comfortable that I don't mind having to swap midday (or sometimes take it off for the day when the battery dies).
I donated my old hearing aids (so many!) but still have 20 yrs of CI proc. I liked each version for different reasons, like switching shoes. The original one was the best for phone speech comprehension until my current one with Bluetooth. I keep the waterproof one for swimming & off-ear use.

I've been implanted for 20 years (after having been born deaf and one ear basically dead for 30 years) and process music splendidly. You might enjoy my 2024 memoir "Radio Head Gal," which is as much about the CI process as it is social commentary on hearing loss, ableism, and DEIA. Best wishes!
The crowds were full yesterday for this weekend’s #IceShantyProject on #LakeHarriet, but I appreciated the other side as well, its stillness at dawn.

The fact that virtually all airline travel requires undamaged hearing, particularly the boarding process and safety & crew announcements, even though virtually every plane, airport and airline process has been updated or replaced since the ADA.
My sense of inner peace hinges on whether I can snag a parking spot at the #YMCA.

Radio Head Gal, a darkly humorous memoir about hearing loss. Based on a talk picked by TED Editors as top 25 of 2020, the book challenges the conventional view of disability as lesser-than and champions accessibility & inclusion. Key themes: betrayal, love & death. Also cyborgs. a.co/d/833iwcF
So, having #myfirstCOVID and being fully vaxxed has an upside: Specifically, knowing that I'll be able to go to the gym every day this coming winter and not worry about getting sick. It's a fair tradeoff.
Grateful for #vaccines, #feelingbetter, the power of #gingerale and a #hotbath, the #MilkCartonKids Christmas music release today and binge television opportunities. #Thanksgiving

From June 11, 2024: Radio Head Gal:

For everyone else, it’s just a ripping good yarn, sure to spawn rollicking debate. Discuss it at book club, & fights are practically guaranteed. It’s provocative & uncomfortable & I hope it makes you think differently about disability.
From June 11, 2022: Radio Head Gal:

Kirkus Reviews calls it "a compassionate and inspirational remembrance … a unique blend of self-reflection and astute social commentary that challenges readers to reexamine the ways that they interact with the world around them.”
