SF and F writer, now with a finished espionage/gay family cosy looking for a publisher. Have been living in Nicaragua since 2010. Also take photos for Alamy, a stock agency in the UK. Interested in watching foxes follow cats into self-domestication.

I live in Nicaragua, so the people being killed without proof provided is murder of people like my neighbors.
Or the British drug pushers fighting two wars with China to open trade in opium. Good YouTube video details here; www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHwS...
As my grandfather said,"You can't break a horse to a book." And even more, you can't break a country to a philosophy, either. Regardless of the philosophy in good SF, stealing intellectual property to feed giant computer data-bases is not that far removed from being Plaster Casters
I wrote "piracy" so this suggestion had nothing to do with privacy. I believe that what the US naval forces are doing could be considered piracy, and in international waters, they maybe fair game for other countries' navies. But I'm not a lawyer, much less a Judge Advocate.
My British friend recommended this one and said Andy Griffith surprised her his performance in this. Also, another movie from an earlier time that's still relevant in 2025.

Couldn't find Casablanca the whole movie, so started watching DEADLINE USA also with Humphrey Bogart. Newspaper and politics. The importance of a free press and the courage that can require.
Better to get the EU observers.
Yeah, that Nuremberg. Better than past reactions to German and Belgium atrocities in Africa.
Some countries have better systems than the US but it seems to require early intervention, more to do than drugs, and a willingness to treat drug addicts as human beings. I've read that Portugal has had some good results.
Scotland apparent out drugged us at one point, not sure which country is making the cartels richer now.
Or it's a white cartel vs.some brown cartels.
They fired the woman who was head of Southern Command when Trump came to office. Then the guy.
They did pick up survivor floating in the water.
USA refuses to answer to the International Criminal Court and taking these people into custody would mean fighting the Secret Service Shooting ships in international water might be actionable as piracy. Do a Wikipedia search on piracy in international waters.
Hoover never used the FBI for drug enforcement because the bribe money was so good. Ortega's military preferred going after drug runners because they weren't the ones with serious money and the US paid agitators had millions to throw around.
His voters imagined that amateurs with a long string of bankruptcies and fake businesses and charities world be either really good at running a nation or they wanted to get onto the grift, too.
More like the Mafia for the model.
No real proof that any of these boats were carrying drugs, something any number of smaller navies do after every drug interdiction.
I more and more think anything that Trump does or orders done in South America is just cartel infighting. Every time Nicaraguans make a drug bust, the cops display the perps and the haul. And they do regular vehicle inspections on road choke points.
Enough of the corrupt criminal conspiracy in the US. I'm going to rewatch CASABLANCA, with some irony. From 1942.
My British friend called today to tell me that some professor wanted to take an abandoned cat and all her recently born kittens. My first question was "Is he a biology professor?" She'd thought the same thing and wasn't going to give him mom and kittens. This is a rough country for cats .
If someone is really looting his country, the opposition will be left to right and just ignore previous political differences to oust a dictator.
The thing always to remember is groups that call for US intervention in changing governments don't have popular support. Any group of Latinos that's large enough can change a government without US deciding who should be the country's next president.
There are a lot of fake charities out there, or charities where most of the money goes to the fundraising company run by someone's son-in-law or such.
