By not being repeated, I mean a whole country banned for 5 yrs. Individual games around Europe, sure. Hardly ever in England. No way to use policing of lower league ⚽️, incl. Millwall, to what rightly around Europe, is seen as massively better policing here. Anyway, guess we can agree to disagree 👍
And that excessive ban has never been repeated. Because all policing has transformed unrecognisably to what it was back then, 40 odd years ago. English ⚽️ happily, has enviable crowd control around games, and it should not be beyond the wit of man to police 1 game well, including heavy restrictions.
Wonder if it's possible to send Reform to build their utopian uplands on the falklands? I mean, it might even be worth investing that money to do it. Surely they'd love it? Could fly their flags everywhere. Lots of wind. Can we start a campaign. I'd feel sorry for the 3470 Falklanders though.
Think comparing 80s ⚽️ (heysel) to now is irrelevant. Like comparing the 80s to the situation in the 40s, and nobody does that. Is a different world re ⚽️ now to the 80s. Much advanced policing/control (when applied) which should mean fan restrictions, rather than total ban, should work. We'll see ⚽️👍
Happy to disagree with you Mr Fox. All good.
Yea I have Rob, I live in Amsterdam and know there are absolute idiots amongst the fans. But, what happened here could and should have been avoided with appropriate planning, which there wasn't. I'm not saying let travelling Maccabi fans roam around, just needs proper restrictions. Anyway, we'll see
Not only Liverpool fans! All English teams, and for years. I understand some bans occur, and have occurred, but I just think it would set a precedent, in these circumstances, when restrictions and proper planning could take place to protect both local people and visiting fans. Football is for fans.
They (Cleverly, Philp, Jenrick et al) know this, but are only concerned with mischiefmaking and pushing conspiracies.
Hallelujah! But that still leaves 64!
Actually, rioting with local rivals is far more likely than with fans of teams from elsewhere. If you haven't seen it, take my word for it (I don't condone of course) And it takes 2 to tango. Excellent timing though I agree 😂. My solution would be to restrict, rather than all out ban. It's possible.
But actually I agree that Scottish fans should never be banned. They are the singularly most positive group of away fans I've ever experienced ⚽️
Belarus, the entire country, both national and league teams are banned from holding any games in their own country. So they hold them behind closed doors, and in another country. Hardly the same. Restricting would mean some maccabi fans are able to attend villa game. Banning all is, for me, extreme
Restrictions of fans are more normal than bans.
Royalty ultras 👑 are scarier than football ultras ⚽️
Getting embroiled in royalty is indeed much less attractive for any govt than decisions around a football game.
While in part true, not all Maccabi fans are thugs, so banning all is extreme. There has also been worry about protests/attacks locally (as happened in Amsterdam) against Maccabi fans. These issues are not always easy to describe in 1 post. Hope it's possible to hold the game for both sets of fans.
I, and would hope the majority of sensible voters, would vote green in a constituemcy where they are the principal opposition to either reform or the tories. Equally, I would vote either Labour or Lib Dems where they are the principal opposition. Any other vote would be to open the door to rascists.
Throw all kinds of crazy talk and accusations out there that you like. Non of what you say is true and makes you just sound unhinged. My only concern is that football fans (from here, there or everywhere) should be able to attend a game. It's the authorities job to plan accordingly. Bye bye.
Who's claiming either of those things? I'm certainly not.
Once again, so do I. Football hooligans = not good, of course. But that happens everywhere (again not good). And is no reason to ban, otherwise that would be e very week, everywhere. You obviously didn't see or look at what was inflicted on Israelis that night.
So you live further away from what happened than I do. So you should be aware that there were gangs of anti semitic/ anti Israeli people roaming around hunting for anyone Israeli. Pity you aren't aware or able to account for that.
Were you there Rob? And if not, where and what do you base your statement on? Apart from uninformed biased commentators.
I didn't say all are. As I've said elsewhere, I am a critic of the Israeli govt too. But to deny anti semitism exists is ridiculous. And you're now stating that all people who support the ban are not anti semitic. Proof? Anyway, I fully expect (correctly) that the ban will be overturned.
Anyway, cheerio. I'm bothered about football fans not being allowed to see a game they shouldn't be banned from.
What's with the quotation marks, as if they are the exact words I used. Maybe you can reflect on your denial that such opinions exist out there.
