After putting off upgrading for seven years, I’m officially impressed with the camera on my new iPhone. Not only was I able to zoom in on this mountain in the distance, but I was also able to zoom in on *this big horn sheep that had climbed on top of it* to watch the sun set 😮

The opportunity to meet others—from fellow authors, to Weiser’s representative, to local OTO members—was also a treat.

My only regret is that, being on Eastern Standard Time, I was too exhausted to attend the evening celebration.

I also enjoyed catching up with @phantasmaphile.bsky.social. Her keynote on the evolution of “witch” in art and literature, from the Malleus Maleficarum to the present day, firehosed an entire book’s worth of knowledge into our heads in a mere hour. /2

I am still abuzz from this past weekend. I was honored and overjoyed to be a presenter and speaker at the Witch Summit! I gave a workshop on "Practical Thelemic Magick" where people got Thelema 101 crash and tried out some classic rituals with me. Additionally I gave a talk on the Thoth tarot.

Jung comes up—his ideas are popular among many magick practitioners—but not a whole lot. My focus is on peer-reviewed scientific studies rather than models that are difficult, if not impossible, to empirically test.

(Most sources say it was a copy of the Zohar, but the Zohar wasn’t published until the sixteenth century, so it was more likely something like the Sefer Yetzirah or Sefer ha-Bahir.)
