Toxic nostalgia isn't new, but it's evolving. The 80s were full of new music by the Beach Boys, George Harrison, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel's output, plus movies like Back to the Future, The Diner, A Christmas Story, etc., and now that *THAT* generation has grown up, we have new nostalgia.

I don't think in most of our politics there is a real centrism these days - there's thing posing as centrism. But, to me centrism is, "Hey, instead of a 10% tax on the rich or a 95% tax on the rich, how about we look at what is needed to balance the budget and set tax rates based on actual math?"...

No, it’s because our representatives don’t represent us. Obama never fought for it. Stop trying to rewrite history. FDR passed 15 major pieces of legislation in his first 100 days. If Obama had legislative juice he could’ve done so much more for the American people. But he didn’t care about that.
