It's inexcusable that the 'herd-immunity' lie is still being peddled by mainstream media - especially the state broadcaster. This specific story is the single worst take, in so many ways, I have ever seen. Mitigations are easy. Covid is potentially very dangerous.

The BBC asked a Palestinian from Gaza to do an interview about her feelings on the ceasefire. The last time they approached her, they asked about her support for Hamas.

Language matters, which is why we should be most critical of those who wield it for a living, like presidents & news media. CNN, like Obama, knows exactly how to manipulate our feelings.

A soldier is “kidnapped” from a military base. But a pediatrician is “detained” from inside a hospital.

Obama gave Israel the largest military aid package ever ($38B), and let it expand its illegal settlements in the West Bank even more than Bush. His modus operandi has always been: Lightly slap Israel on the wrist rhetorically while rewarding it with billions in cash.

Suggesting that people should refrain from criticizing Obama because he is the only Black president is saying he shouldn't be criticized because of the melanin content of his skin. A powerful influential person should be judged on their words and actions, not on their gender or color of their skin.

Obama is an opportunist who was a close personal friend of Rashid Khalidi when he was a professor in Chicago. Not only was he pro-Palestine but he knew in great detail the bloody history of the creation of the ethno-state and its ensuing crimes. He turned his back on it all on his road to the WH.

Obama used 'families' because it is such a loaded word. It evokes in most of us an immediate feeling of empathy and compassion, which the word 'people' just does not do. And he referred to them as 'the people of Gaza', not Palestinians of Gaza, so robbing them of their national identity.

You’re assuming Obama started out well-intentioned and was steered wrong by Genocide Joe. My opinion is that he was always an opportunist who went wherever helped his career. The man started out a friend of Rashid Khalidi and ended up a friend of Israel.
