Weird thing about rewatching BLOOD WATERS OF DR. Z (aka ZAAT!) is realizing that, while the movie itself sucks, the idea of playing a mad scientist type as a Zodiac killer type and not as a supervillain is pretty clever.

I forgot that GREG THE BUNNY was created by the guy behind ANORA. If FAMILY GUY had stayed cancelled, would Seth MacFarlane be the new Whit Stillman?
robbykarol.bsky.social
Yeah, sure a guy who made a TV show replaced by GREG THE BUNNY is also a crooner and made his own STAR TREK knock-off. No way is that a real thing.

Starting a new bit where I believe FAMILY GUY was cancelled in 2002 and never revived. Whenever people talk about it, I’m going to say, “oh, is this a Mandela effect thing?”

Fascinating look at Larry Hama’s favorite (non-artist) writers.

Rewatching TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME and there’s something touching about Ray Wise being second billed in the opening credits. He’s had a good career but he deserves a great one. Plays an awful monster and makes him utterly believable.

I hope Ray Wise is making a lot of money playing a certain Cabinet member these days, at least.

Love all that new Vertigo news! At this rate, the RED HOOD will get a Black Label reprint in 2055!

Came across this organizing my CDs… a bizarre line-up (and “Executive Producer; Johnny Depp” has not aged well) but an interesting artifact. Imagine using a Disney movie as a springboard to promote David Thomas, Martin Carthy & Stan Ridgway.

Like, for the great writers like Dickens or Melville or Shakespeare, you could easily find which ones were the ones people recommended. But for a genre writer, you had what was on offer at the store or library. I remember reading I, ROBOT and then GOLD by Isaac Asimov & being really puzzled.

That's one of the the things about pre-internet media consumption. Sometimes you'd start reading an author based on what was at your library and bookstore, and it wouldn't be until way later that you would understand which were in the canon and which weren't.

I’m terrified by the way they’re talking about going after the left, but then I read about how many indictments grand juries are just dismissing these days and wondering how much of their credibility they’ve already lost.

lol, experiencing FIFTH COLUMN and STARSHIP TROOPERS at 11 because my local (pre-Borders) bookstore carried them.
