A chat with @andyzax.bsky.social reminded me of a real late 1990s artifact, Vangelis's "Tegos Tapes," done for a Greek surgeon as background music for training videos because said surgeon figured just him talking would be boring as shit. 8 hours plus of spacelanes drift!

'One From the Heart' was a joy. Love the earnest artifice of it, the elemental simplicity of it. Visually my bag for sure. Would be a fun triple-feature with 'All That Jazz' and 'Pennies From Heaven,' arty not-musicals. Artificial dream-Vegas works, where the reality is a nightmare: all neon hopes.

The 1hr making-of-James Gunn’s Superman doc on Max is the Bizarro-Planet Megadoc full of good vibes (and features the same production designer tasked with impossible challenges!) I liked them both very much, recommended double feature.

Every time I watch ALIEN I am transfixed thinking to myself "there's no way they've left themselves enough room to get the third horizontal line in that E without it looking like a squashed-in mess!" but no, every single time there it is, and it's beautiful. Most tense part of the movie tbh.
