The klan, the police, the butcher, baker and candlestick maker in every little Southern hamlet used to disappear Black people too.

When they didn't step off the street.
When they whistled.
When they bought a new suit and stood too straight.

Fascism isn't new here. It's coming for you too.

imagine needing to put other people's stolen writing into a computer to write a book. couldn't be me.

i love working on comics in between my prose work because artists are some of the most delightful people to collaborate with. so much talent and creative energy goes into even the tiniest panel

ONE parent. And in Florida, ONE man is responsible for 40% of all book challenges in the state. The book banners are a tiny minority. Make that clear by speaking up in favor of the freedom to read. (Email your school board!)

Thanks to @aclusc.bsky.social and @authorsabb.bsky.social working in SC to fight bans. The challenges have been brought by 1 parent who earlier filed 97 challenges in Beaufort County, nearly all of them denied. She's re-challenging now that a state law passed in July 2024 makes banning easy.

Done. I can't believe this was just 3 days ago. Thanks to @prisonculture.bsky.social for the idea. Thanks to @dell.bsky.social for the boost. The idea? During #TeslaTakedown events, present consumers with an alternative to Tesla as you do your part to save democracy.

In 2009 GOP Member of Congress Joe Wilson screamed “you lie” during Obama’s SOTU. No censure by the GOP, only “reprimanded” by Dems

At Biden’s SOTU 2022 Lauren Boebert and MTG heckled him, nothing..

But Dems will happily throw their Black colleague under a bus for white moderate voter pandering
piperformissouri.bsky.social
Ten Democrats voted to censure their colleague Al Green. Here are their names:

Ami Bera, Calif.; Ed Case, Hawaii; Jim Costa, Calif.; Laura Gillen, N.Y.; Jim Himes, Conn.; Chrissy Houlahan, Pa.; Marcy Kaptur, Ohio; Jared Moskowitz, Fla.; Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Wash.; and Tom Suozzi, N.Y.

I'm of two minds because on the one hand, yes, I definitely have my concerns about the tropeification of both Romance and Fantasy

But also I'd really love to see more BIPOC and queer writers get to jump in on the romantasy train before we all collectively decide enough is enough

"I can’t throw a rock in a bookstore these days without hitting five sprayed-edged romantasies where the girl has to reluctantly team up with a dangerous, sexy enemy..."

@readingtheend.bsky.social on romantasy, fanfiction, and too many tropes:

I have received more bots on a single post on Bluesky than I ever got on any singular post on Twitter.

Something is really shifting over here, and not in a good way.
rosiesrambles.bsky.social
This post has gotten more bot interaction than anything I've ever gotten on Twitter tbh! And a couple have definitely fooled me. It's scary stuff
rosiesrambles.bsky.social
Well, this has definitely been an eye-opening experience with the growing Bluesky bot problem yikes :/

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!
A poster for the economic blackout on February 28. It is a big red Jack rabbit on an aqua blue back ground. It says economic blackout in hand done black type. There are two black speech bubbles. One says “don’t buy stuff Friday February 28th. The other says we have power. Below it says No Amazon, Walmart, target, gas food, gas. Below that it says OK small business, use cash. Designed by Martha Rich.

room for repair is not for allowing abuse or regular, intentional malice. it is honoring those who stand with you and who you stand with by allowing them the chance to repair your relationship when you inevitably come into conflict and vice versa.

compassion and accountability is how we survive
rosiesrambles.bsky.social
a concept my therapist taught me that has radically changed my approach to community and care is that healthy relationships require room for repair.

we are all going to hurt and be hurt by one another as we try to survive this current moment. remember to keep room for repair whenever you can
