Please can you ask Labour why the CDC, prior to Trump, posted infographics on covid organ damage and clean air and why we aren’t talking about this in the UK? @eddavey.libdems.org.uk @carladenyer.bsky.social @zackpolanski.bsky.social

Conference has begun!

Let’s make sure we don’t miss a beat. 🥁

I’m a Lib Dem voter but yeah “far right”….
roydosan.bsky.social
I do - also “state benefits”, “nhs”, “social housing” these all cost money.

I don’t believe in blocking but I won’t engage with people who resort to foul language. I posited a suggestion. You’re welcome to criticise it to your hearts content but I’m not interested in using swear words in a debate/argument nor in involving myself with people who do.

Fine but why should we bankrupt the country to support their aspirations? We’re not a charity.
roydosan.bsky.social
No idea. Not the sort of people I’d associate with.

Sorry but nowhere did I ask for slaves - only a visa system which facilitates temporary migrant workers. I would be in favour of good pay and generous tax breaks.
roydosan.bsky.social
Yes, I did - some time ago and I don’t have links saved for ready access funnily enough.
roydosan.bsky.social
I said copy the visa system nothing about working conditions but yeah carry on with your false accusations.
roydosan.bsky.social
I just read the immigration statistics since 2020 - look them up on the Gov.uk website.
roydosan.bsky.social
Where did I support slavery? The same visa system applies to well paid lawyers and accountants!
roydosan.bsky.social
Not at all. The visa system not working conditions on construction sites. The same visa system in the gulf countries also applies to professional expats - lawyers & accountants. No articles about them being poorly treated.
roydosan.bsky.social
The visa system not the working conditions. I was referring to hospitals anyway not construction sites.
roydosan.bsky.social
The same language applies to western professionals (lawyers, accountants, doctors) working in the Gulf.

I’m not and never have been racist and the only time I’ve looked at the Daily Mail is to wipe my backside with it.
roydosan.bsky.social
It’s not horseshit. Good pay with tax breaks makes us an attractive place for temporary expat workers. Win-win for both sides.
roydosan.bsky.social
No, pay them well with tax breaks thrown in.
roydosan.bsky.social
But that isn’t what we have done for the past five years. If we had it would be far better than the current situation. Most of the Boriswave don’t work and of those that do the majority will take more than they pay in.
roydosan.bsky.social
Why is it stupid? Why should we grant people access to the NHS, social housing, etc just because they’ve been here for five years. We can’t afford it and with taxes going up there are better things we should spend the money on.
roydosan.bsky.social
It depends on the immigration system. The UK should have a UAE style immigration system - work permits for a defined period, no citizenship or permanent residency, and no rights to bring dependents unless you meet a salary threshold. The Gulf countries have no shortage of workers in their hospitals.
roydosan.bsky.social
Asylum seekers is a non-issue. The problem is the 2.6m legal migrants since 2020. You can’t have a population increase on that scale and it not have an impact on the country.
roydosan.bsky.social
Temporary workers who will leave when they’re no longer needed or when they decide to go home. I would be in favour of giving them tax breaks. Their employers should cover their healthcare costs.
