Ending SNAP is one of the reasons this shutdown has no end in sight. MAGA GOP wins with things shut down, and Democrats know they have no power once they cave - Trump can break anything verbally promised. Signing a law ending Trump's reallocation of funds is a little mentioned part of this fight.

Why would we believe Noem instead of the over 170 citizens who have said "ICE arrested/detained me"? She, like her boss, POTUS, is a fluent lair.

I see this as a true sign of the unpopularity of administration policy choices. Housing political advisers on bases sends a problematic message. “In a robust democracy, what you want is the military to be for the defense of the country as a whole and not just one party,” Lawrence told us.
