By the late 1970s we started taking sulfur out of fuels. This reduced deadly air pollution and acid rain. Unfortunately, by happenstance SO2 emissions produce reflective aerosols that cool the climate, so, in a sense, fossil fuel combustion has become more effective at warming the planet.

Humans are responsible for 100% of the *increase* of atmospheric CO2 since the pre-Industrial era. It's increased by about 50% since then.

About *a third* of global fossil fuel CO2 emissions emitted during the Industrial age have occurred in roughly the last 17 years. The previous third was emitted over a period of roughly 26 years. The first third was emitted over a period of about 131 years.
