I’ve been keeping one regularly for a couple of years now and it gives me and excuse to spend far too much on journals, stickers, and washi tape. I also started keeping a dedicated reading journal last year.

This gives me an excuse to shop book sales for great deals and to buy more books that I know I ain’t got room for. Each book has a little card on the back and post it flags for annotation. Students are loving it so far.

My little free library in the Critical Play Lab (working title) is growing. We also have a stack of journals and a bowl of stickers, pens, highlighters, and bookmarks. My Games Writing students are keeping Commonplace Books and it warms my heart that they sometimes come in just to sit and write 🔥❤️

Nature tried to kill me no less than 3X today.
1. Stink bug on car door handle almost gave me a heart attack.
2. Giant wasp in the car on the highway tried to murk me. (I lived)
3. Student & I got bum rushed by a bat in the hallway outside the lab on the way back from class. No contact. No shots.
