As a trans person, if I encounter a cis person who's into Harry Potter or constantly makes Harry Potter references, I might not say anything to them, at least not right away.

But I do notice, and I do automatically mark them in my head as someone who cannot be fully trusted.

Totally agree!!! That phrase originated within anti-trans circles, and is specifically designed to reinforce the use of the word "sex" to only mean birth sex. I refuse to use it except within scare quotes.

Lawyers for the Raines told the Financial Times that OpenAI had requested a full list of attendees from Adam’s memorial, which they described as “unusual” and “intentional harassment”, suggesting the tech company may subpoena “everyone in Adam’s life”. OpenAI requested “all documents relating to memorial services or events in the honour of the decedent including but not limited to any videos or photographs taken, or eulogies given . . . as well as invitation or attendance lists or guestbooks”, according to the document obtained by the FT. “This goes from a case about recklessness to wilfulness,” Jay Edelson, a lawyer for the Raines, told the FT. “Adam died as a result of deliberate intentional conduct by OpenAI, which makes it into a fundamentally different case.” OpenAI did not respond to a request for comment about documents it sought from the family.

Fun fact: for a time in the 1940s some US states, including Illinois and Montana, issued vehicle plates made from soy to conserve metal for WWII. This worked fairly well - until animals started eating them.

Maybe the US will have to do this again so all their unsold soybeans don't go to waste.

Excellent move. It would be virtually impossible for the Government to argue both that trans people never had the rights they thought they had, and that the UK had been in compliance with Goodwin.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right. Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases. In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing). In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.
