Despite losing his seat in the election, Pierre Poilievre still lives at Stornaway - that’s tax-payer funded government housing.

Ironic considering he spent his whole political career, including a few years as housing minister, denying affordable housing Canadian families.

Golf won out, I guess? Sigh.

WWKIP - watching friends play rugby this morning. @pineandpurl.bsky.social’s “very colourful, very demure” colourway looks lovely in the sun! #knitsky #wwkip
The beginnings of a Sophie Shawl, knit with Pine and Purl’s “Very Colourful, Very Demure” colour way. In the background a girl sits on the sidelines and watches her friends on the rugby field.

Does this tax cut also mean cuts to social services, because if so, I don’t want it. What I do want to see are the top percent earners paying their fair share.

Here in Canadian, we are hearing that a lot of the most dire news just isn’t getting to Americans. We know more than they do about what is going on.

Same. It’s frustrating to never feel like my views have been represented in the political halls.

I'm a leftwing Canadian.

I've never, in my life, been represented by a government at any level that comes close to sharing my political beliefs. And you don't see me whining about it...

Ok, you do see me whining about it, constantly, but you don't see news orgs writing about me whining about it.
Western discontent is a growing problem after Liberal election victory
Tens of thousands of Western Canadians have newly registered with the Alberta Prosperity Project, which is collecting the names of people who support a sovereignty referendum

There are so many safeguards in place, truly. It’s very low tech on purpose - even the use of graphite pencils (with no eraser) is deliberate, since pens can malfunction or smudge and possibly make a ballot mark unclear.

I feel this deeply, having lived many of my voting years in small town/rural Ontario and Alberta.

I worked the election in Canada yesterday. The care and attention to detail with keeping ballots and voter information safe and secure before, during and after the vote, not to mention making the election day process easy for voters, is an impressive logistics masterpiece. 🇨🇦

With all sincerity, Elections Canada is a national treasure.

- Voting typically takes less than 15 minutes
- We make it easy for citizens to vote, without cumbersome registration hurdles
- We have every reason to trust that ballots will be counted fairly, and results reported swiftly

That’s a scary percentage of Canada that voted blue.

Agree! He got the votes because he has ideas and because Canada does need change.

Mark Carney has a unique opportunity to remake Canada in ways his predecessors would’ve struggled to find the political capital to do.

I hope he takes advantage to build ambitious, nation-building projects to bring the country together again and get serious about reducing our dependence on the US.

You are honestly a hero. I hope your office mates appreciate you!
