It’s not uncommon. For example, in Rhode Island in 2023, 1 week before the primary, AOC endorsed one candidate for Rep and Patrick Kennedy endorsed another. There was zero chance of a republican winning (our primaries are basically our general) which is why I’m talking about primary endorsements.

Well, the word just means shame and anything can be a shame (ex. it’s a shanda that you didn’t win the award). It’s when you apply it to a Jewish person, especially one using Nazi tactics…Then it really like you’re saying he’s a shame to Jewish people.

You are using it correctly, but personally (and other Jews are bound to disagree with me) I don’t think it’s correct for you to use it.

The full phrase that most of us use is “shanda fur die goyim” meaning “a shame in front of the non-Jews”. So it’s about embarrassing us.
