SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

Not a fan of how every entertainment platform is slowly being acquired/consolidated by conservative billionaires who are all friends and hang out with eachother on the weekends. Feels not good.

A fun fact about McCarthyism is that just two and a half years after he was condemned and censured, Sen. Joseph McCarthy drank himself to death at 48.

Fevers break. Petty tyrants fall. Censorship and persecution drive good people to stand together and fight back.
After his condemnation and censure, McCarthy continued to perform his senatorial duties for another two and a half years. His career as a major public figure, however, had been ruined. His colleagues in the Senate avoided him; his speeches on the Senate floor were delivered to a near-empty chamber or received with intentional and conspicuous displays of inattention.

The press that had once recorded his every public statement now ignored him, and outside speaking engagements dwindled almost to nothing. Eisenhower, finally freed of McCarthy's political intimidation, quipped to his Cabinet that McCarthyism was now
"McCarthywasm". McCarthy died in the Bethesda Naval Hospital on May 2, 1957, at the age of 48. His death certificate listed the cause of death as "Hepatitis, acute, cause
unknown"; previously doctors had not reported him to be in critical condition. It was hinted in the press that he died of alcoholism (cirrhosis of the liver), an estimation that is now accepted by modern biographers. Thomas C.
Reeves argues that he effectively died by suicide.

Yeah, I'm gonna need more Knights of Guinevere. That's all.

Same panel, same comic, different styles and techniques.

(Context: This is from my future webcomic called 'Summer Days.' I'm hoping to (finally) get it out next year.)
Art at beginning of COVID A girl reading a book on her bed while listening to music. Vs. Now! Same girl, with a different character design, reading a book on her bed while listening to Elvis Presley's song "I want you, I need you, I love you."

We remember 9/11 not only on this day, but every day—in the empty seats at our tables, in the loved ones still suffering from illness, in a skyline forever changed.

And we recommit ourselves to building a future worthy of the courage and sacrifice of those we lost.
Twenty-four years ago, our city faced one of the darkest days in its history when nearly 3,000 lives were stolen in an act of terror.

We remember 9/11 not only on this day, but every day—in the empty seats at our tables, in the loved ones still suffering from illness, in a skyline forever changed.

Too many survivors and first responders have had to fight for the healthcare they deserve even more than two decades later. While some used this horrific act to divide us, and we remember the countless victims of wars abroad and bigotry at home in the years that followed, New Yorkers came together.

Even in the midst of unimaginable loss, we saw the best in each other. Firefighters climbed smoke-filled stairwells knowing they might never return. New Yorkers lined up for hours to give blood. Strangers became neighbors, washing the dust from one another’s faces.

Today, we honor the resilience of our city, which refuses to surrender to division and fear—and we recommit ourselves to building a future worthy of the courage and sacrifice of those we lost.
