I think Madison is a very compassionate community, I think that folks who live in Madison want to help people who are more vulnerable than them and might be experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, and I think that it is a benefit to our entire community for us to take care of people.

Wisconsin spends about as much on homeless services as Madison does, and far less than Dane County. Despite multibillion dollar budget surpluses, the Legislature rejected again, without discussion, Gov. Evers’ request for $24 million to increase funding for homeless services at the state level.

ICYMI: we are officially re-opening Well 15. The well has been shut down since 2019 due to PFAS contamination. With the PFAS filtration system up and running, all measurable PFAS are being removed from the water and Well 15 can now safely be put back into the distribution system.

For the 52nd year in a row, Moody’s has assigned the Madison the highest possible bond rating. Madison is one of only a handful of Wisconsin communities with a Aaa rating on its general obligation debt. This allows the City to invest in important projects at the lowest cost to taxpayers.
