I'm Silv, aka Scalebutt.

I'm a fantasy artist with a focus on dragons and anthro characters.

My content varies from SFW to very NSFW. I mostly paint digitally by hand, but I also carve wood, bone, and antler :3

This is probably the largest art I've made in a long time; it's 16x48 inches at 300dpi. All of the animals are inspired by petroglyphs and cave art from around the world on top of the shapes found within the animals themselves. #art #caveart #petroglyph #deer #wolves #ravens #raven #wolf #elk

The artwork is made up of many different petroglyph-inspired animal figures. The animals are all moving to the left. In the foreground you see three wolves and four ravens chasing after two bull elk and one doe in fairly dark lines. In the background are similar style elk that use smaller artwork and lighter lines to represent being further away. All the foreground animals have gold foil circles into their design around their heart's location and airway location. The entire piece has been given a distressed treatment.

I did not expect the -phenomenal- response I've had to my last two pieces; especially the petroglyph one. I need to go for a walk to clear my head and figure out how to respond to the crazy outpouring of support. I'm not sure I've ever received that many comments in one shot! You are all incredible💙

In the third panel the artist is drawn with a big grin and stars in their eyes while their side character Petro simply says, "Damn dude. Congrats man." while their dog tentatively licks the back of the phone questioning the source of the surprise.

Food allergies are like a hidden disability.. and out here we've noticed that people don't really believe in them, or would just pigeon-hole us into a statistical box of "necessary casualties" for *insert political agenda*

I've barely regained use of my hands. I... don't need this extra worry.

I know we aren't alone in this. Food allergies are complicated and scary when they're severe.... corn is one of the worst, because it's in everything. Vitamin fortified wheat? Corn derived vitamins. Meat? Washed with corn sourced vinegar. It isn't recognized as an "allergen" so regulation is nil.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this. I don't really expect anything... but I guess I'm putting it out there that no, not everyone can rely on food banks if SHTF. I don't know what we'll do. Hunt squirrels I guess, and hope they haven't been eating someone's deer corn.

This is our reality right now.

Even what we can get at the store is limited, because he's allergic to corn, and I'm allergic to soy. I won't end up in the hospital with a burning, peeling rash all over my body, if exposed to corn starch, corn sugar, corny acids, corn vinegars, or corn derived vitamins... but he will.

I'm getting increasingly worried about the EBT situation here.

We rely on it to eat. I have food allergies and so does my husband, and they aren't things that are easily avoided. Food banks aren't something we can rely on for food, due to serious cross contamination issues.

Barely awake, but someone in my feed was looking for ways folks hold their stylus and stuff. The post was gone by the time I got a photo, but I have a photo, and it seems weird to not share it now, because I've been told before that I hold my pen/fork/everything weird.

Dominant wrist is doing much better today :3 seems like keeping it straight when I sleep, taking my vitamins, and anti-inflammatories before bed, is the best medicine.

Not back to 100 percent, but improvement is good.

I've never actually used that feature before, but the angle pose that I've got in my head just hasn't translated well without a proper guide, so this seems as good an excuse as any to finalize details of my feral sona, plus learn a new useful skill in CSP.

This particular model is something I'm planning on using as a guide for that digital painting WIP I shared the other day, so the design of this is going to stay feral, rather than anthro.

CSP has this cool feature where you can import a 3d model, and use it as a guideline for the composition.

Whoops... I overdid things the other day with my wrists. I've relapsed a bit, and today I'm pretty sore. It might be another few days before I make progress on comic stuff.

I did manage to spend a couple hours on messing with 3d stuff. This might be the closest I've gotten to a 3d model of my sona.

A WIP 3d model of a canid creature. The head, body, and part of the hind legs are roughed in. There are no front legs, tail, or ears yet.

More sketches, just for the story. Sometimes I feel like with each iteration I move further away from what drawing a living being even means, turning into an obsessive engineer. I'm somewhat prone to falling into this (silhouette! shape! structure!), but I think I need to rethink my approach... :')

I started this personal piece quite a while ago. I've been leaving it alone, because there was something about it that felt wrong angle/anatomy-wise.

I pulled it up today and tried to figure out more with it. We'll see if I do more with it anytime soon.

I recently found a productivity application that actually helps me get shit done. It's helped me to start meditating again, and feeling better about myself.

Also, here's some pics of local wildlife I've encountered recently, and my cat. Though I guess he's honorary wildlife. He was a feral kitten.
