So, right at that gate, you get a mount, you get levelups, and you get the encouragement to go and explore the other directions. Go, check out Limgrave, find Castle Morne, figure out how to get out of Caelid. Or INTO Caelid! Whatever you prefer.

This is amazing gamedesign. :D

I'm just so impressed how the brick wall of Elden Ring is used to teach you how to play the game. The Tree Sentinel? You learn you can walk around enemies. And right after the third bonfire, where you get the ability to level, you stand in front of a gate, that tells you: maybe don't bruteforce it.

Fair warning, the palicos are amazing, but no monster killed me as many time as my own Seikret. They are birdbrained on a level that is player-mobbing. XD I miss my Rise-doggo so hard.

(mind you, I'm absolutely garbadge at dodging, can't parry for shit, forget 90% of the time that my character has a sword, constantly hit the wrong buttons when I panic-attack and run screaming whenever a boss looks at me. I'ma make a great Elden Lord.)

The only wrong way to play a game like Elden Ring, is when you don't have fun. :)

I think there is also this new seamless multiplayer mod for PC, that sounds amazing.

But Elden Ring is also surprisingly forgiving once you have started exploring after the third bonfire. Even if you run into a boss you can't beat, you can always try something else, come back later, get better gear, better skills, a few levels...

Personally I started the game because friends wanted me to play it. The plan was to buy it for cheap, play it for half an hour, then tell them I hate it and never get pestered again.

That backfired:
I'm now level 153 and just challenged Malenia for shit and giggles.

On PC there are a lot of mods that can make you max level or give you invincibility and all that. And as long as you don't play online or invade unmodded games, I don't see a problem if you install them for yourself. :)

Fair warning: the story of this game plays out in an active war zone and the creators of the game did NOT hold back with telling you that the real monsters here aren't the creatures. This game will not make you smile and feel fluffy.

It is amazing in its own way, but NOT a feel-good-game.

I keep hearing that artists have to keep creating, to preserve hope, to make people want to carry on…

…But that is really hard to do when you scrape the bottom of the barrel yourself. Can't pass on happiness if you barely have enough to carry yourself through the day.

The first few months of bsky were amazing but it is so good that things are going back to normal, how social media should be, where everybody is constantly depressed and burnt out, we get our own little NapoElon, and real slurs like "transphobe" or "clanker" are banned. <3
