Another excellent episode. I look forward to rest of the QT season. Off to dig out my 'Sinners' bluray in preparation for next week's lesson.

This week's Patreon-exclusive bonus episode is on Wes Craven's most socially-conscious horror; The People Under the Stairs. We got some real Del Toro vibes off this one, as the monsters are humanised and the humans are monstrous!

On School of Movies tonight: We kick of our Quentin Tarantino Director Season with an almighty bang. Django Unchained is an absolutely blistering black revenge fantasy by a white guy at the top of his game. Teeth-grinding tension and explosive comeuppance!

Finally got around to printing the custom Silent Hill Downpour cover @schoolofmovies.bsky.social whipped up for me. Its a mix of the japanese front and the english back, the american front cover is too "generic dude pose". This is way more evocative
Front cover of a ps3 case for silent hill downpour. Fuzzy image of a guy screaming against a rain soaked window Back cover of the same game which is frankly a mess of warning labels and infographics. But its at least partially in English

And on our Patreon bonus feed; one of the most influential comic books for me personally, with some of the most gorgeous art and truly lovable characters. I spent my birthday reading and talking about Joe Madureira's Battle Chasers with Willow and Sharon

On the podcast feed tonight, we're talking about Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and 3: Snake Eater. One has an astonishing antagonist and one of the most memorable, endings in gaming history, the other was the most brazen bait-and-switch of all time!

On the Patreon bonus podcast feed tonight: We dive into the sparkling, sweet waters of cheesecake comic books; the kind created to gratify horny male readers with artfully drawn, curvy ladies, presented in the manner of a delicious dessert. It's DANGER GIRL!

Tonight's show is Transformers One. Awkwardly marketed as an Illumination-style goofy kids animated movie, this thing is actually about the dissolution of a friendship and the underclasses rising up against their cruel, exploitative overlords! schoolofmovies.podbean.com/e/transforme...

On a quest to edit as much Mark Wahlberg out of that passable Uncharted (2022) movie. Antonio Banderas was RIGHT THERE and could have played Sully as a lovable old rogue (hiding shameful regret) instead of a whining, peevish, greedy, shallow idiot. I shall call this edition "Uncharted: Unmarked"

I enjoyed the Thunderbolts* and K Pop Demon Hunters shows, and it looks like there is a lot to look forward to. Thank you.

And HERE is our movie podcast line-up over the next few months. We have a mix of the new and the classical, the long-awaited and the unexpected, with a smattering of video games TV and comics to mix things up. So, pretty much the same as we always do. Which are you looking forward to most?

What would you rate Sinners out of 10?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments and we will read them out on the show.

A work of true classical magnificence. Stirring, painful, beguiling and abidingly haunting. Already considered the best vampire film ever by a lot of our listeners. And without a doubt after Creed, the Black Panthers and Fruitvale Station, Ryan Coogler is one of the greatest directors working today.

We have two potential commission slots for November. Get in touch if you have a request. Alternately we are always happy to look at After School Club commissions. Half the cost for a shorter show.

If I didn't have the podcast and the books to focus on I'd probably be a recurring name on Fanedit.org

I re-edited Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones into one single movie, did my best with Revenge of the Sith and condensed the six episodes of Obi Wan into a third movie. So now I finally have something resembling what I *thought* the Prequels would be, sometime in the mid-90s.

This is honestly one of the best episodes of the year with a great guest! Also loved everything Alex was doing with the edit in this one! Give it a listen!
Picture of the blue tiger from "KPop Demon Hunters" sitting on a room, staring at nothing with a big goofy grin. The picture is captioned with the words "No thoughts, head empty."
