Okay though I've had thoughts about this before though and they amount to "okay so technically the curse doesn't require me to drink living blood, I just have to have living blood inside me it doesn't say anything about removing it from the person, plus it turns out blood keeps longer this way"

The fun part is that the wingman is specifically from a heretic sect that came to the conclusion that "wait, we're not going to heaven, so we should murder the people we DON'T want to spend eternity with, also since we're damned anyway we might as well get in on the hookers and blow lifestyle"

One of the wingmen in privateer 2 was from a cult that believed that the victims of murder go to heaven automatically, so they go around murdering people they deem good and worthy of heaven rather than taking a chance on judgement, knowing that they themselves are damned (because of the murders)
