They induce constipation by example. Good time to use the bathroom
Thanks. The differences in bass and treble between settings are quite stark.
What makes you think the Kali headphone was supposed to be tuned to Harman in its Studio mode in your review?

Why waste more time studying preferred target curves when these effects are the one that need to be addressed. What good is a target curve is it cannot be reliably produced for every listener? Of course some of the segmentation effects are related to taste and hearing loss which isn't shown here.
Above left is an open canal microphone before a Noire XO headphone is placed on several individual ears. Right are the frequency response variations of the headphone measured on the individuals. Most of these differences are larger than different proposed target curves...which begs the question...
How much is listener segmentation (different preferences for bass and treble beyond a reference target) be explained by how the headphone couples and interacts with the impedance of the ear?
Was it mostly the sound quality/tuning you didn't like?
A nice paper that compares 3 methods for measuring the acoustic impedance or "openness" of a
headphone...https://aes2.org/publications/elibrary-page/?id=19825
@resolvereviews.bsky.social I spent some time the past week with the Omid Kkonsari who left Harman for HyperX in 2021 and shared your review which pleased him. He is doing some good work there and expect some good sounding models coming out soon.
Most noticeable on music by Philip Glass. It’s like the circle of confusion has been solved.
Well the glass diaphragms are transparent if thar falls under technicalities.
Evaluating some speakers and headphones by Gait that use glass diaphragms.
I will be attending my first Dallas CanJam Dallas in November giving two seminars: 1) an updated version of "The Perception and Measurement of Nonlinear Distortion in Headphones" and 2) Headphone Target Curves for the B&K5128 and GRAS 45-CA-10

You need to start testing headaches backwards I guess.

They should have a least included a reference or anchor and is known to be neutral. One of the headphones in the picture is worn backwards
Small details. :). But not very confidence inspiring and leads one to believe this listening test produced nothing more than random data to write an article that can be totally dismissed.
Thanks.... I will be going to the CanJam Dallas show so maybe another opportunity to run some listening tests
