There were countless gates being kept and fiery hoops to jump through for trans women to get safe access to estrogen, and many of us were still battling the conventional wisdom--promulgated by transphobic gay cis men, esp. drag queens--that we were just delusional f*ggots who were going too far.

A cis dyke friend once told me that when she worked at Good Vibrations in San Francisco in the early 2000s, there was intense peer pressure from other employees to shoot testosterone to prove she was butch. Oh, we do have fun!

While my mother and I waited at the Kaiser pharmacy today, a woman struck up a conversation with me about my bootlaces, which are Spark Purple and Teal from Derby Laces. This sort of thing happens a lot, but I always like it when my mother gets to witness it. I think it helps put her mind at ease.
