Tampa Tribune, December 9, 1956.

At first, efforts to get the little girl gorilla to pose looking fondly at the picture of Elvis Presley failed. She completely ignored the picture for several minutes.

Suddenly she became interested. She started to chew it, and was irked when it was taken away.

Coeur d'Alene Press, December 9, 1966.

Since Star Trek made its debut, fan clubs have sprung up. In his role as Spock Nimoy appeals to youngsters because he never blows his cool.

"I don't understand the reaction among young people to the role." he says. "But I'm happy that they've taken to him."

I just remembered that I hadn't added Diamanda Galás at the Yerba Buena on October 19, 2006 to my setlist dot fm tally! Whew, that was close. Still haven't found primary source evidence that the April 12, 2002 Jonathan Richman show in San Rafael happened, however. www.setlist.fm/setlist/diam...

OBVIOUSLY do not use AI, at all. AT ALL, for anything. I don’t wanna hear about the theoretical good version, it’s not what they’re pushing on us. The absolute worst people in the world have gone all in on this shit, and it needs to be starved out as much as possible. AI: not even once!
Sec. Hegseth rolled out the U.S. military’s new AI platform, GenAi.Mil, with a link to an empty website. trib.al/tbCJAkT

Predictably, the platform can’t actually be accessed from external networks, but the wonky rollout triggered eyerolls across the internet.

"Kitty O'Neill is completely capable--probably the most qualified driver--but I've been advised by my attorney to discontinue. We'll continue at a later date with Hal Needham."

Needham has never driven the SMI-Motivator in which the tests are being made.

💯
One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

New York Daily News, December 7, 1979. Mario Bava's BAY OF BLOOD was re-released as CARNAGE and then TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE, and finally LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT 2. They even straight-up repurposed the original LAST HOUSE's marketing campaign--and if Wes Craven knew, he probably didn't care.

I'm up to S01E04 of PLUR1BUS and am making a point of avoiding internet discourse about it, but I also have a theory that depending on one's political orientation, it is seen either as a cautionary tale about the dangers of AI, or the dangers of wokeness/political correctness/compassion for others.

Because two Chicago firms felt it would be "unbecoming and degrading for a woman to set a land speed record," California stunt woman Kitty O'Neil has been jerked out of the driver's seat of a car attempting to set such a record on Oregon's Alvord Desert.
