I watched the first half of this,.and I'll have to watch the rest later. It's very good! The portrayal of the Americans cracked me up.

Interesting. I'll see if I can find that movie in the void somewhere.

A friend of mine works for a mining company. I wonder if he knows this.

There are a lot of old phosphate mines in central Florida. Some have been made into man-made lakes and parks.

I grew up in St. Petersburg, and other than 4 years in Gainesville for college, I have lived in the area ever since.

Oh wow, I have lived in the Tampa Bay area almost my entire life. I'll look that one up too.

Also, the 5 members of the Riding Crew were Polish contractors who were preparing the ship to be transferred to Alaska.

I'm sure you have forgotten more about engines than I will ever know. 😊

I've attached the crew list here. Looks like 6 engineers, 3 Oilers and 2 "Qualified Members of the Engine Dept."
shipwreckspod.bsky.social
According to my math that is 5 clowns too few.😂

With the listing *and* being tossed around by the storm, certainly it would have been inconsistent.
shipwreckspod.bsky.social
I did a lot of reading about how the list impacted the oil pressure. I'm certainly no engineer, but I found it interesting. The engineers worked their tails off to get the pressure back for the engines and the pumps. But they never could do it.

The recordings were tremendously helpful, as we're the Coast Guard Marine Casualty Report and the NTSB in estivation report.

The vessel was battling rough seas, strong winds, and a fishing net caught in its propellers. 292 people lost their lives making it one of South Korea’s deadliest maritime disasters. (2/2) ⚓
