Free pastry from Lidl with my cup of tea this morning. Shopping all done, we got a new air fryer so I’m going to test it out this week.

So after insisting on destroying Dublin’s Viking heritage, amid widespread public opposition-and building those Stephenson carbuncles, DCC now want to leave Wood Quay - even if no longer fit for purpose they should be made stay there forever … Sitric’s revenge! #speirgorm www.rte.ie/news/dublin/...

The post office is a public service, and making it pay for itself is an abdication of responsibility by the government. Fund the bloody thing so it doesn’t overprice itself into a death spiral.

I love Keith telling the potters they should be proud of their work. Like, creativity is hard and it’s so easy to nitpick yourself but this show is so good at emphasising how any act of creativity is magical, even if it doesn’t come out as planned. #PotteryThrowdown

@wolvendamien.bsky.social Last year you mentioned clipping and I have really gotten into them. My son watched their tiny desk concert and now he’s inspired to make robots that make music. So thanks for that.

It's the first column of the new year and it's grimmer than ever before, my friends.

Thanks @conorom.bsky.social for writing this piece for us setting out the legal position on X and CSAM… in short, yes, they could be prosecuted.

Ireland could prosecute Twitter/X for AI 'child porn' deepfakes
The horrific child sex abuse material produced every day by Grok is already banned under Irish law. The real test is if we are ready to enforce that law against large tech companies

Finally got a filofax insert (not the exact one I like though) from Terenure office supplies. Getting it set up for the year now.
Also on this point I can’t get the Filofax insert I like for said calendar anywhere. Idk they probably started selling 2026 calendars in 2024 or something. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

this, coming from the Media Minister in Ireland is embarrassing.

other genAI providers have managed to minimise generation of non-consensual porn and CSAM, why can’t X?

it is absolutely scandalous to put the onus on the user and not the platform owner financially benefiting from this
My word. (Again.)

Media Minister Patrick O'Donovan: "At the end of the day, it's the choice of a person to make these images... technology is moving so fast... even if the law is changed there's no doubt about... the advances are far faster than law is able to respond..."

There are real people, real women, real girls whose images have been edited by grok at the request of users.

This is not some fictionalised, nebulous harm.

That the 'adults in the room' and 'rules-based order' governments are humming and hawwing over taking a firm line on this is extraordinary

The state shot &killed people in the uk for decades, colluded with citizens to kill & has frustrated justice in uk courts ever since. Sean Browns widow awaits her day in the Supreme Court. THAT has been a warning siren ringing for decades - the colonial attitude of us being lesser stops them hearing
The death of a legal observer in Minnesota by ICE is a warning to the UK in so many ways. We’re tying ourselves to a violent, corrupt, racist nation which does not care about its citizens. Reform believes in its model, Labour is appeasing it. It is the public who will suffer.
