It's worse than the clip shows. She's now facing 3 charges (each carrying a max. of 5 years) & police have charged 2 bystanders for crowding under Florida's new 'Halo Law'. The police clearly see this as a teachable moment for the public. Warning: upsetting images.

Respect. You KNOW those peaches won't make it to February....

Or Team Alberta either, for that matter.

given that the party that controls all three houses of government is spending every day plotting attacks on an organization that does not exist it seems like the idea moment to release a consumer app that can generate nearly undetectable video deepfakes

It's been a constant, major issue in the Baltic states for decades. In turn, I believe that Russia makes proficiency in Russian (and basic knowledge of Russian history) a requirement for citizenship (although not residency permit).
shuilian.bsky.social
For sure. Sorbs & Sami do not pose military threats. Russians in the Baltic are fully aware of the larger context & why they are under suspicion. Refusing to learn basic Latvian is a politically-charged decision. Their failure to get security clearance alone speaks volumes.

That's a laudable instinct, but it's comparing orange-painted apples w/oranges. I think you would be very hard pressed to find Sorbs that don't German or Sami who don't speak one of the other state languages. Let's not lose sight of the fact that tons of countries are even more demanding.

Once again, everything is Trudeau's fault here. Almost nothing about provincial culpability with international students (especially in Ontario, which got a single passing mention), nothing about the provinces' responsibilities about housing or healthcare. Nope, this was all Trudeau.
How Canada got immigration right for so long – and then got it very, very wrong
Canadian immigration was stable, popular and uncontroversial. But a series of changes after 2015 broke the national consensus, and the system

Again & again: don't do the things that your enemy clearly is manoeuvring you into doing. By all means resist, but don't be led. If the enemy is choosing the place, the time, the stakes, & the mode of conflict - you're being led.

#BREAKING

🇪🇪🇷🇺Tensions are escalating even further on the Estonia–Russia border.

🔹️The so-called “little green men” have already appeared — they are clearly not border guards, have no identifiable markings or insignia, and most importantly, they are armed.

I take it to mean that you are also entitled to take anything from the fridge & that you will inherit the business when they die...

Sorry, I need to disengage in order to do this whole 'life' thing, so I won't be responding to messages for a bit (i.e. please don't mistake radio silence for icy silence). To be continued...

Ah, Catherine O'Hara. Love her.

Right, but, again, there's a very large jump from showing that COVID seems to effect gut flora to stating as established fact that Long COVID is nothing more than that. I do accept that COVID seems to have a bad effect on the gut.

My apologies. I've seen evidence that genetic changes from the Black Death increased susceptibility to certain other illnesses, but you're right there have been studies showing increased resistance to HiV. I stand corrected.
shuilian.bsky.social
I think you meant to say the opposite: that the genetic descendants of people exposed to the Black Death have an increased risk of other illnesses that attack the immune system. That's why it is so important to tackle viruses directly & not trust to 'natural immunity', improved gut microbiota, etc.

Great minds and all that....

Very true. I found withdrawing from a lot of activities actually enriched other parts of my life. The main issue for me hasn't been 'missing out' so much as dealing w/social expectations that I behave as though COVID isn't real/is over/no big deal, etc.

I think one of the quirks of Bluesky (which I found out the hard way) is that if, at any point, you contributed to a thread, you will continue to get notified & included if anyone else on the thread continue to post. Makes it hard to hang up!
shuilian.bsky.social
I do not know that. By definition, 'Long COVID' means long-term sequelae of COVID infection. I do not see that the media is promoting awareness of Long COVID at all. On the contrary, I find that Long COVID is given very little attention & that people struggling with it get no support.

My understanding is that it takes a fair chunk of time for the vaccine to take effect (I think it's 2 weeks?). The evidence is overwhelming that everyone should get vaccinated (not just 'high risk' groups), except for a very small number of people w/allergies or specific sensitivities.
