pup sees. for ~$1,250 USD, you could build a brand-new desktop that is 3-4x faster than yer laptop. also gives you the ability to upgrade it in the future, unlike a laptop (especially today's laptops).

you could also go with older gen stuff and save some $. is this something you'd be interested in?

you can also change the right-click context menu if that bothers you, either by reverting to the old style (possibly security risks) or something like - nilesoft.org (if you are not using StartAllBack)

you can go through and "turn off" features/settings without too much difficulty imho

kinda depends on how picky you are. the average PC is going to function *close* the same on Windows 11 as it does on 10. it'll be slower (comes with the territory of using a much newer OS with lots of backwards compatibility + speed not being it's focus).

you can stay on Win 10 until 2026---

a whole bunch of knowledge to use the distro.

anyone moving to Linux from Windows (or even mac OS) is going to have to read and follow instructions. that's just how it goes, and how it will always be (same if you moved from Linux to Windows or mac OS).

Arch isn't extra super difficult mode just because it's centered around the terminal/pacman. that's not what makes an OS difficult to use. if you are capable of reading/following directions/asking questions, you can use Arch. why? because it can be more tedious, which is not the same as needing---

you are incorrect. if using Arch required that much knowledge, the Steam Deck would not be running a fork of it. Valve would have chosen a different base and locked it down to prevent users from accessing the desktop environment at all---
