Identity, whether gender or nationality or any other, is an individual choice; fluid, contingent, and perhaps multiple. This is the only way to live at peace in a Free society, and is therefore a non-negotiable demand on every State, backed by force.

Or they could do what this Tesco's I recently visited does. (These two photos are taken from the same spot, with the photographer (me) rotated 90º.)

The efficient half of the parking at the Cambridge Tesco's. The inefficient half of the parking at the Cambridge Tesco's.

But point 1 flows directly from point 2. Your money isn't going to fund the ground rent on redundant parking lot.

The traffic records being set on the Northern Sea Route this summer are no accident.

Record high temperatures are currently being set across the northernmost portions of the #Arctic. In fact, it is effectively ice-free on the Atlantic side of the Arctic all the way up to about 85°N latitude! This includes record low sea ice around Svalbard.

Line graph time series of 2025's daily 2-m temperature in the Arctic compared to each year from 1958 through 2024. There is a long-term warming trend for every day of the year. There is also large interannual variability and a clear seasonal cycle.

Woah. Camden's citywide microtransit has averaged 140 rides a day since it launched in June 2023. By comparison, this half hourly, stupid looking squiggly loop carries over 700 rides a day.

Worse yet, bus 452 has four vehicles. Camden loop has EIGHT! (Started with 5)

The NYTimes wisely hired Anna Griffin, one of the best journalists in Portland, as the head of its Pacific Northwest Bureau
President Trump continued to describe Portland, Ore., as a city on fire Friday even as residents enjoyed the first fall rain and the lone demonstrator at the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement building was dressed as a pink Care Bear. While taking questions from reporters in the White House, Mr. Trump said that “every time I look at that place, it’s burning down” and claimed that when store owners in Portland need to make repairs, they “build it out of plywood.” Buildings are still constructed with wood, concrete, steel and other modern construction materials in Oregon.

That *would* make sense, but Camden has one problem on the demand side and one problem on the supply side. The demand-side problem is racism, and the supply-side problem is the Norcross family.

Couple of interesting things in the DVRPC technical committee presentation from this month

First is a NJT report about TOD at Pennsauken TC theorizing a possibility of 379 to 567 units able to be supported in the area

Someone at Embraer needs to swallow their ego and shrink the E2 (E170-E2?) so they can sell to fuel- and PaxEx- conscious US regionals. They've already gambled and lost, thoroughly, on anyone ordering the E175-E2.
sictransitphl.bsky.social
The A220 was always meant to be a mainline aircraft. The real problem is that Embraer built the E175-E2 for 90 pax, not 76, meaning that even if a US-based airline pulled a CRJ-550 and pulled seats out and gave it a paper derate, the newer, more fuel-efficient planes are too heavy to fly here.
sictransitphl.bsky.social
We've repeatedly chosen, as a country, to have the feeder airlines as part of the commercial aviation ecosystem, and the unions have (grudgingly) consented. So, bug.
sictransitphl.bsky.social
Never mind Toulouse/Hamburg-assembled Airbuses. When was the last time an American factory completed a 50- or 76-seater? Goodbye to all the regional airlines and their CRJs and Embraers.

If the merchant maritime industry insists on keeping all of those as one giant package, then patience from shippers (i.e. the other 99% of America) is eventually going to run out and the entire law is going to get scrapped.

The clauses of the Jones Act requiring ships engaged in cabotage to be US-flagged, US-owned, and US-crewed are defensible; we have similar laws for trucks and airplanes. The clauses that require such ships to be US-built and made from US-sourced steel are very much *not*.

The original terms of the Treaty of Shackamaxon are unknown, but are widely believed to include cession of land rights to William Penn on favorable terms for the Lenape, else Penn's failsons wouldn't have hunted down and destroyed all copies of the Treaty.

Federal officer blasts chemical spray into vocal but nonviolent Portland protester, video shows

The interaction illustrates how federal law enforcement officers do use aggressive tactics against protesters who yell and needle officers but don’t appear to present clear physical threats.
