Possible neglect if the services this resident needs can not be provided. Not really the home's neglect as they have been doing their best, so the safeguarding would be directed at social services to try to get them to pay the money. More costs of people investigating the issues. Madness.
Yes it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things but that's maybe a week's food shopping. They can't absorb those kinds of costs, especially given the increase in national insurance costs they face next year. I am waiting to hear back from social services. I point the home at the locality team but they say they have tried in the past and been refused. So now I have emailed the social services team pointing out that the resident is deemed 'end-of-life' and the care home are understandably concerned they may never get their money back.

When this client moved into the home two years ago this week they had a bank card but they couldn't remember the PIN and it wasn't contactless. They couldn't pass the bank security questions. The home went to social services to ask them to apply for an appointeeship so they can access the money.
This week I went to see a #socialcare client as their advocate. They are subject to a DoLS. Their care home placement is funded by the council but they have no other accessible funds. For 2 years. So who is paying for all the sundry extras not paid for by social services? A client money / capacity🧵

Seems to be the thing now. Brixton Academy did following the overcrowding problem that caused two deaths and Heaven did last week after a number of crimes including a rape.

I retraced my steps and asked in Munchies cafe as that was the nearest spot to where I thought I had heard the clink and some kind soul handed it in and the staff had it for me. I’m in floods of tears, the chain seems gone but I have the locket. Thank you universe ❤️
