I don't know about effective, but I see a bunch and tend to watch them because it's usually in with similar content.

Open comments tends to make people click just for the memes which I can only imagine helps!

High scores aren't shared, it's literally just your scores you're seeing - I didn't want to write a server for hosting scores, especially when people will just cheat anyway!

And I don't get paid at all unless someone hits the 'Support this game' button - itch lets you set your price, and I chose $0

There isn't really more to do on it!

I might add an attract mode, and maybe make it pausable, but honestly unless it suddenly picks up a stack of players I might leave it as it is and work on the next thing 😅
