Proof of life.

I was SO worried about that, blockages terrify me.

I haven't eaten since yesterday but my body no longer remembers what hunger is.

Shawn does not have that issue and he's extremely upset I tried to sneak watered down kibble in with his prescription canned food and dumped it all on the floor in protest once he got the good stuff.

He has now had meds and food and he's wandering around stoned, singing the song of his people. Everyone thinks he's beautiful and special and has a wonderful name, because...yes.

I'm staying up to see if the meds give him some relief because I can't sleep otherwise.

Note that I do not need advice--several years ago I had a cat with similar issues, so I'm not up to date but I'm familiar and have done similar regimes of meds.

So many meds. He has ALL the meds.

Sorry, been home for a bit but we're now on *checks*....nearing 34 hours without sleep? I'm slow.

He's okay, at least probably won't have a urinary blockage as there were no crystals, which I worried about over the holiday weekend. He's being treated for an infection and idiopathic cystitis.

He's okay, they just got pee from him minutes before I finally called. 😭 Now have to arrange a ride and still no idea what's going on but I assume someone's gonna tell me.

Maybe one day I'll get to sleep and eat again. 😭

(They close in two hours, please I just want my cat.)

They also probably had to dose him with more gabapentin because he will rip people's faces off if it's a bad touch, and that takes time to work, I KNOW THIS, but also...

I just want my cat. 😭

I've now been awake for going on thirty-one hours straight, no one has called about Shawn yet and my head is full of every worst-case scenario (reality is that it's Friday before a holiday weekend, they are BUSY), and I have worked very hard at not spilling my anxieties here--you're welcome. 😭

Also yes, I was there for his bladder but everyone asks about his jaw.

Anyway I guess I'll lie here and stare at the wall, they should call me in another three hours or so.😭

I do not understand why this cat wants to kill me, doesn't he know that I am literally the only person capable of keeping him alive 😭

I have one fountain *on the counter* so it's a "safe" spot for some of the cats to go where they can't get jumped (no one actually gets jumped but you know how cats are), there are bowls everywhere and I see him drink all the time (not excessively) but omg.

Nothing bad happens to the pets in my book because I am so tired of bad things happening to them in real life. Buy a book, pay a vet bill. 😭

Me, trying not to scream: I HAVE TWO FOUNTAINS, BOWLS IN EVERY ROOM, I LET HIM DRINK FROM THE SINK, AND HE'S A BOUGIE BITCH WHO GETS BRITA FILTER WATER, COME ON.

That should be "long" weekend before, whatever, I've been awake for going on 26 hours.

*vet goes through the possibilities* "And if it's this, it might be idiopathic and we just might not know why, but..." *gestures at Shawn* "I saw his jaw issues and file and..."

Me: "And he's the cat that stuff just happens to, yes." 🙃

He’s staying at the vet so they can load him with subq fluids to try to get a pee sample because it’s Friday before a king weekend and I don’t want to end up at the emergency vet. 😭

“Hello, yes, I have the cat who’s jaw sometimes locks open and has had a cardiac ultrasound and two dental surgeries, I promise I’m not a crazy person but here’s my detailed in/out log from the past 12 hours and please don’t touch his butt”

We have an appt for 9:45. I have been awake 23 hrs straight 🫠

It’s a vet who doesn’t know me so looking forward to horrifying her with Shawn’s phonebook-sized records.

I no longer brace when he yawns but this is why I’ve been up for twenty hours straight (on 3-4 hours of sleep)—anything can happen to this child. I just need to see him use the box and that everything is moving before I sleep. 😭

So you know. That’s our Shawnie. If anyone’s gonna have a jaw that randomly locks open when, per our best guess, he yawns real big(???), it’s him.
