In case you’re wondering whether the pro-ICE reactions to Renee Nicole Good’s murder are natural, here’s a comment that was just left on my video. My video about anti-transgender bias at the BBC. I haven’t made a video about Good yet.

Most notable about this (horrifying) article is confirmation that Replika, the big "AI girlfriend/boyfriend" app, was directly inspired by a Black Mirror episode.

Tech folks, I mean this in the kindest possible way, okay? STOP TRYING TO CREATE THE FUCKING TORMENT NEXUS.

"You've been running a stealth rifle build since Fallout 1," they told me. "Just try power armor and heavy guns once, you won't get addicted, all the girlies love power armor and heavy guns." Well, this is me now, thanks a lot

Watch out for the ONE question where they try to trick you by putting "I want AI" as the bottom option where EVERY other question has "I don't want AI" at the bottom!

I haven't even been able to block. Every single time, for the past two weeks, that I try to block a right wing account I get a vague "can't complete this action, try later" message. And then more show up on my feed.

I...I don't think they know what a jobber is.

Taking my lunch break to read up on Modiphius's creator program, and it's giving me certain Feelings and Thoughts about my long-gestating tabletop RPG idea...

I try not to say "I can't believe people are still on X" thing because people have different reasons for things that I don't know but "by using this application you may completely incidentally encounter CSAM in a way that you are technically criminally liable for" feels like a big Moment to Consider

Chili and cheese. A very rare indulgence, but one I love.

I am overcome with want for this, but I'm not sure if it's because I love the property or because I just love the idea of being the kind of eccentric writer who lives in a lighthouse

The one we build after we put all these fuckers on trial and hang them, to make sure future generations don't forget what happened here.

Do they not understand how blocking works? Hell, I managed to get an angry weirdo on my green tea post yesterday. But nobody knows 'cause...I bloooooooooocked them.

Today of all days is one in which I urge everyone to be on alert for misinformation, AI-generated nonsense, and just as importantly fluent and convincing rage-bait. The skills of critical ignoring -- lateral reading, being judicious about how much / where we consume information -- matter now.

Trying green tea instead of coffee in the morning for various health reasons, only to discover that...green tea tastes pretty good!

An innocent civilian was murdered by ICE today, but it's nice that you had fun at NASCAR. Did you get any yummy snacks?

Arrest the murderer and arrest Bovino. Not complicated.

It's not, to my knowledge (at least rare enough that years ago, when a mystery writer tried getting a product placement deal, a company went for it as a one-time novelty and that was notable enough to make news; IIRC they didn't even pay him cash, just a few bottles of the booze he name-dropped.)

All my books are in paperback, but brick-and-mortar stores won't order most of 'em because I use an Amazon-owned printing service.

To be fair, I do have a really cool car. (It's a train. I don't own it, but I do have a ticket to ride it, so)
