Even the hotel we’re staying in was built by the British in 1806, and show the history.

My mother calls SL, Ceylon. There’s even a Sri Lankan/Tamil restaurant back in Cambridge called ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’.

So, no, I wasn’t referencing the past in my orig post.

I’ve been to SL three times now, twice as an adult.

The people and the country are proud of its history, they happily show how the British, Portuguese and Dutch colonised the country. There’s a hotel with the name Ceylon. Restaurants, bars too.

I know only brief history of the British colonisation of India, but my post was simply showing what I’m up to whilst I’m on holiday with my mother.

My mother was born and raised in SL. I have lots of family here.
