GROW, a Sky original in the UK, is getting a Fathom theatrical release in the US, starting October 17.

Starring Nick Frost and Golda Rosheuval, director John McPhail calls it: "a Halloween movie, with a Christmas vibe."

Perry has two more holiday/holiday adjacent rom-coms in the works, faith-based THE GOSPEL OF CHRISTMAS, about a pastor trying to save a dying church, and 'TIS SO SWEET, about middle-aged woman pursuing her bakery dreams, filming this month and next in Atlanta, with both said to be fore Netflix.

Will also note A WISCONSIN CHRISTMAS PIE (still just THE worst title) got good bit of publicity, at least locally. I saw at least a dozen articles/appearances with the leads, promoting movie last week, so if that's how this one did, this coming week should be beyond disaster, because I've seen nada.

Or, since they're celebrating the 25th anniversary of MY KIND OF CHRISTMAS ... CHRISTINA'S KIND OF CHRISTMAS, XTINA'S KIND OF XMAS. Know they wanted to emphasize the "Paris" part of the equation, but still.

And in case anyone was wondering about ratings for the previous Christmas installments of the Lacey Chabert-Wes Brown series, 2022's HAUL OUT HOLLY had 3.29M live viewers and 2023's HAUL OUT THE HOLLY: LIT UP had 2.38M, to HAUL OUT THE HALLOWEEN's 1.6M.

Great American Family has debuted only 3 new movies in all of 2025—GROUNDED IN LOVE, A CASE FOR THE YARNMAKER & WISCONSIN CHRISTMAS PIE—and none of them cracked cable's top 50 programs on their respective days, with the only ratings we actually know a sad 109k for GROUNDED.

Great American Family airing new, or new-ish (streamed first on PureFlix) movies for first time in 2025 and, so far, no one cares. Neither last week's Danica McKellar-led GROUNDED IN LOVE, which had pathetic 109k live viewers, or Candace Cameron Bure's A CASE FOR THE YARNMAKER, registered in ratings

And, if the ratings look less than bright for Hallmark, things are downright grim on Great American Family, where they kicked off their Christmas programming to literal crickets

A WISCONSIN CHRISTMAS PIE failed to register in the ratings, which measured programming with as few as 153k live viewers

HAUL OUT THE HALLOWEEN down 26% year-over-year for the network (HAUNTED WEDDING, 1.43M), and a whopping 40% drop from Lacey Chabert's last Hallmark movie, AN UNEXPECTED VALENTINE (1.8M) in February.

Going into Christmas this is not great, and everyone should expect much lower numbers this season.

With sports dominating the live-viewing landscape, only broadcast net CBS was only non-ball-related viewing to work its way into the night's top primetime telecasts, either by total viewers, or in the key demo (18-49)

The new ratings reality is grim, indeed.

HAUL OUT THE HALLOWEEN had 1.058M live viewers on Saturday, which was enough to make Hallmark the most watched non-sports/news channel of the night, but still significantly less than one would expect from big name, big promo, buzzy holiday title.

Also randomly wonder if streamers, both big ones like Netflix and FAST outlets like Tubi, have folks whose job it is to quickly license content in wake of trending topics, like celebrity deaths, when demand for an actor's work surges, or if rights process is just too cumbersome to move that quickly?

One of Diane Keaton's movies being rediscovered in the wake of her passing is 2005's THE FAMILY STONE, which also stars Rachel McAdams, Claire Danes, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson and Dermot Mulroney.

The ending of this one bugs me, but until then, I'm a big fan. It's streaming on Prime Video.

Fathom's temp art for CHRISTINA AGUILERA: CHRISTMAS IN PARIS, with tickets set to go on sale November 7.

Know some of this shot just last week, but still surprised Fathom release so late in December, not really allowing for PVOD or streaming sales.

Throw in some fave supporting actor faces as hotel/ship employees and think you could have cost-effective, and fun, series of movies—each with different types of love stories—to stripe across the Christmas calendar, with elements that feel cohesive, but still allows folks to jump into any story cold
sleepykittypaw.bsky.social
Given recent ratings, Hallmark likely out of connected movie biz, but still feel single locale—hotel, cruise ship (built-in product placement)—series of CHRISTMAS movies featuring Hallstars would work

Film consecutively and make each story discrete, but have actor overlap at arrival/departure point

A few more details about Tyler Perry's THE GOSPEL OF CHRISTMAS, set to start filming soon in Atlanta, about a young pastor who takes on a new job at the holidays, in hopes of saving a dying church.

GOSPEL is said to be for Netflix.

Tyler Perry has new holiday movie in the works. THE GOSPEL OF CHRISTMAS, set around the Black church choir world. It's set to film in and around Atlanta, starting late next month.

Not sure if this a streaming or theatrical release, but like all of Perry's projects, his own studio is producing.

While executive produced by Tyler Perry, DeVon Franklin is the on-the-ground producer of both TIS SO SWEET and the already-shot RELATIONSHIP GOALS, another upcoming Amazon (non-holiday) rom-com starring Kelly Rowland and Method Man, rumored to release in February.

Not confident it's Christmas, but once THE GOSPEL OF CHRISTMAS wraps in Atlanta, there's another Tyler Perry-produced romcom set to go into production in November, TIS SO SWEET, about middle-aged woman sick of being passed over for promotion, who quits her job to open bakery.

Both are for Netflix.
