Nothing feels more festive on harrowing holiday travel day than public restroom with overflowing trash can of discarded paper. Struggling to tear off tissue thin, yet also sandpaper rough, square that dissolves on contact with damp. Getting stranger’s used wipe stuck to my shoe. Feels like freedom!

Last year’s shambolic roll out of THE WAY HOME, announced as Hallmark+ exclusive, then hasty retreat to main channel on off night (Friday) running concurrently with WHEN CALLS THE HEART in prime Sunday slot, was mess and TWH still did decently. That they didn’t even wait to see S4 ratings says a lot

Behold, Hallmark’s key-art for their 2025 Hanukkah movie…Where the only thing Jewish on the poster is Jake Epstein. Sigh.

Network’s retreat might truly be the death of it. No future in catering to 70-80 year olds clinging to cable and Hallmark can’t make it 2014 again, no matter how hard they try.
This is out on IMDb, with a cropped version as the header image on Hallmark's webpage for the movie:

Truly expect we’ll see fewer nights overall programmed by Hallmark in 2026. Probably just Saturday most of the year, and 2 days, rather than 4, during the holidays. Not they haven’t zigged before when I expected them to zag, so that’s all just rampant speculation on my part.
November 25, 2025 at 2:58 PM
It has done well, especially new season, but who knows. Production cost is always going to be key in this new ratings reality. What’s the deal look like with Sarah Drew and Audible? Who gets what? Is there a place for it on whatever the new debut schedule will look like in 2026? Only Hallmark knows.
November 25, 2025 at 2:55 PM
Turns out people tune in to channels for the thing that cable channel is known for: HGTV for home shows, Food Network for cooking, and Hallmark for feel-good movies. They expect what it says on the tin, and when a music video channel, for instance, becomes nothing but reality and clip shows, it dies
November 25, 2025 at 2:52 PM
That Netflix didn’t even pick it up as a branded original with the publicity and launch fanfare that would bring is…Not a promising sign for series quality, nor how Hallmark recouping much, if anything, with this deal

Very likely Hallmark just released their option and outside production co sold on
November 25, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Problem being, can cut your way to savings, but not success. Cable TV dying, full stop. Producers must either learn to survive in new reality, or go away. Indie like Hallmark with streamer that hasn’t taken off is especially vulnerable. Not hard to get to place where brand more valuable than channel
November 25, 2025 at 2:39 PM
With this and announced ending of THE WAY HOME with already-shot 4th season, Hallmark continues to cut production as cable viewership dwindles

Expect fewer movies in 2026, even more sponsored titles, and no series beyond WHEN CALLS THE HEART, which still gets OK numbers

Hallmark appears to have ditched the already completed series RIPPLE, starring Isn Harding and Julia Chan, completely. It will instead debut on Netflix, with little fanfare, on December 3.

As far as I know, this is the first time Hallmark has sold off a fully produced series.

I didn’t. Very interesting. First time they’ve ever sold off a series rather than air it,,ASFAIK

Did the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade try to get the cast of the legendary HILL STREET BLUES to do a musical number with the cast of
SHIRT TALES?

No.

They didn’t try.

THEY *DID*.

And if you've never seen MOTHERLAND, and don't have Britbox, the whole series (three seasons), minus the elusive "Last Christmas" 2022 one-off special, is available as a box set right now on iTunes for $9.99.

Hilarious and well worth it. Just an absolutely brilliant series.

Very, very oddly though Britbox US is adding the two MOTHERLAND Christmas specials, both 2020, which can be purchased on iTunes and was previously on AMC+, and 2022's "Last Christmas," which is new to the US on…December 27.

While missing STUFFED, Mark Gatiss' annual BBC Christmas ghost story, THE ROOM IN THE TOWER (humbug to both), & any mention of AMANDALAND (sob), we are, at long last, getting MOTHERLAND LAST CHRISTMAS, the 2022, one-off special that has never been available legally in the US

Sad update. All 3 seasons of MOTHERLAND are now on Britbox and still no 2022 Christmas special. "Last Christmas" remains lost to American viewers.

Also missing are exact dates for the DEATH IN PARADISE and BEYOND PARADISE CHRISTMAS specials that WILL stream on Britbox, probably because the BBC has yet to announce them. Expect them to arrive stateside the same or next day they air in the UK.
